Museum of Srem

We loved the place. It's pretty small exhibition but some of the pieces are real treasure. The mosaic room as part of antic villa is amazing. Kids don't pay, ticket for aduls is 300 dinars

It is a cultural institution, founded in 1885. Nowadays it displays a great heritage of entire Srem. The Museum of Srem is open in two locations. The first location is at the 15 Sveti Stefan square. The second location is this, in the 3 Vuka Karadžića street where thematic exhibition from recent history can be seen. It's accessible by car and parking in the front is NOT free. They have a small entrance fee.

Very good setting, interesting especially for children. From room to room you go through the centuries. The children are thrilled with jewelry and printed rings, weapons, clothes, a music box, books. A truly enchanting permanent setting. The museum also has an archeological part in another building, which is currently under reconstruction, but we are allowed to enter part of the exhibition. The remains of bones, teeth and other parts of mammoths and other animals from prehistoric times are truly impressive. Also, you can see the influence of modern devices - as a 3D animation of the belt. Really worth seeing. The ticket is 150 dinars per person and is valid for entry to both museum buildings. I recommend everyone who is nearby to visit the Museum of Srem.

The city museum has two beautiful and different exhibits in two buildings. In first there is a story about Roman’s and past past time and in second there is a modern history. Definitely a place worth seeing. I wouldn’t recommend this to earlier school clssses because they are not familiar with the history so it’s to much information for them.

It was great. There was a guy who showed us everything and had good stories. Would recommend a visit 100% 🙂

Muzej Srema je osnovan 1885. godine koja se bavi istraživanjem materijalne kulture velike baštine, kako u gradu Sremskoj mitrovici tako i Sremu uopšte. Postavka je veoma zanimljiva i bogata sadržajem i eksponatima.
Znači će vam stručni komentari vodiča ili kustosa.
Rad muzeja je organizovan u okviru odeljenja iz sledećih oblasti:
arheologija,
istorija,
istorija umetnosti
etnologija,
prirodnjačka i numizmatička zbirka.

U nekadašnjoj kući porodice Bajić, građenoj na kraju 18 veka, smešten je arheološki materijal u okviru stalne postavke koja obuhvata period od početaka naseljavanja do pada Sirmijuma u ruke Avara- 6 vek. Sastavni deo stalne postavke je i dvorišni prostor sa mnoštvom rimskih kamenih spomenika - popularno naѕvan LAPIDARIJUM. U okviru lapidarijuma predstavljeni su in situ ostaci villae urbanae, od kojih je danas vidljiva apsidalna prostorija- triclinium sa ostacima prekrasnog geometrijskog podnog mozaika koji je nakon konzervacije preѕentovan javnosti.

Jako smo prijatno primljeni. Iako kustos još nije bio stigao čovek iz obezbeđenja nam je izašao u susret za sve što nam je trebalo. Iako postavka nije velika ipak je upečatljiva. A neke stvari smo videli prvi put. Svakako preporučujem. I sa tom ulaznicom može se otići i u arheološki deo postavke muzeja koji je na drugoj lokaciji niže niz ulicu. Ni to nemojte propustiti.

Zanimljiv muzej sa sirokim spektrom postavki!

Neverovatno kulturno blago jedne od prestonica rimskog carstva. Šteta yšto je država slepa i ne ulaže u ove ostatke. Obavezno obići i pogledati. Ne moraš ići u Italiju da upoznaš Stari Rim.
