Wow, so important roman city but totally forgotten. Once even capital of Empire. 6 ceasers were born here. Unfortunattely after barbarians sacked it in 6th century it was destroyed. The emperial palace is excavated and it you are a history fan and get into conversation with employees....you might čet virtual glasses to see how the palace used to be like. Kids loved it. Oh, entree fee is like 2-3€

Nice view on ancient time. Since while city is built on Sirmium foundations, it was very interesting ti hear about it. The preserved one part of Emperor's palace and built a building to cover it. Now it's protected and can be seen by tourists.
Entrance fee is around 2eur. Custos said few word about histry and preservation which was really great!
There are no ques and it's not crowded place.

It holds the remains of a Roman imperial palace which was home to several Roman Emperors in the middle and late empire including Constantine I. The palace was built at the end of the 3rd or beginning of the 4th century AD. The complex has now been opened to the public as a museum. Only one part of the imperial palace complex can be seen. Enjoy the Roman art. Luxurious interior decoration there is achieved with the fragments of frescoes, mosaic pavements and architectural ornament. They have a small entrance fee.

IMPERIAL PALACE in Sirmium - This is a very interesting archaeological place where the life history of the glorious and powerful Roman Empire existed many centuries ago. Many historical architectural remains, artifacts on how they have lived, survived, conquered and practiced their powers as emperors or great leaders. Their historical displays and stories are really very impressive and educational for historian fanatics. So, if ever you come to visit Serbia, don´t hesitate to include this place in your travel bucket-list.

One of 4 capitals of Roman empire, the site itself is still quite small, however the actual history behind this details of emperor's palace are breathtaking.

The Sirmium Imperial Palace is an important architectural complex located in Sremska Mitrovika, a city and administrative capital of the Srem District in the autonomous province of Vojvodina in Serbia. The palace was built at the end of the 3rd or beginning of 4th century. Marcus Aurelius used Sirmium Palace as a residence in between his Pannonian military campaigns.

Today, only part of the ruins of the imperial palace can be seen. It is considered an archeological site showing the remains of the once prosperous and powerful Roman city buried and concealed beneath the streets of the present day Sremska Mitrovica.
