The Gallery of Matica Srpska

Great place, a must go if you are visiting Novi Sad.

The definite art museum in Novi Sad. Three floors with a good selection of Serbian painters from different epochs. Plan for 2-3 hours to explore it.

The dark room on the 3rd floor was a nice respite.

The ticket is 200 din, Friday is free.

The oldest literary, artistic, and scholarly organization in Serbia, Matica Srpska, established the Gallery of Matica Srpska in Pest (modern-day Budapest, Hungary) in 1847. With time, the Gallery evolved into a one-of-a-kind national museum institution, a collection of national artwork that was produced and developed across a larger geographic region where Serbs lived from the late 16th century to the present.
The Gallery of Matica Srpska started operating independently in 1958 with the opening of the First Permanent Display after it was moved to its current location in the heart of Novi Sad.
Nowadays, it's one of Serbia's and Novi Sad's most significant institutions.

Highly recommend to visit. Entrance costs 200 dinars. You will find a huge collection of works of art placed on three floors of the gallery

Very nice gallery. Unfortunately only the ground floor was open. First and second floor were closed due to a change of the permanent exhibition

You need to consume culture in it's best features. Such can always find in GMS Novi Sad

Came for a 5p tour before going to EXIT, couldn’t be happier. A guide took about an hour to show my brother and I all the highlights of the gallery. Really enjoyed it — you could tell that Jelena knew her stuff and enjoyed sharing her knowledge.

The permanent collection is closed for renovation until December 2023. Only the temporary exhibition on the ground floor is open.

Great gallery, a definite must-see.

a good place for spend your time in calm and see some great oil paintings. The building is located near the city center and you can walk there in about 10 minutes. the price of ticket is 100 Serbian Dinar for every person. there is some books, magnets, postal cards and more to buy inside with good and low prices. we bought a tiny magnet and a postal card from there :)

Wonderful gallery to visit!!! Must see creative work of serbian greatist artists as well as some historical important saved objects. Also you can buy souvenirs (they have huge choice from books, shirts, scarves, notes...)

The Gallery of Matica Srpska was just a great experience to visit!
Went to see Djura Jaksic exhibition and liked it! Also saw a permanent exhibition of Serbian artists, and loved it a lot too! Very nice collection of works. You should definitely come and see it!
Spent about 2.5 hours to see all.
Witnessed a rehearsal of a beautiful African string instrument (the Kora) for the night concert, which was also wonderful to see and hear.

I really like this gallery. It has some of the most beautiful paintings from Serbia and Vojvodina. If you never visited and you are thinking about it, I highly encourage you.

The most baby friendly place in Novi Sad 🙂 You can enjoy in Serbian art and also some permanent exhibitions. There is also a room for kinds with great programme.
