Restaurant has been renamed, FYI! We came here because we wanted a quick lunch before grabbing the train nearby. Looks humble from the outside but wow great food and great service! My husband had the picanha and I had the dourada fish - so good!! Server was checking with us and was very patient with me (because I couldn’t decide what to eat).

One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in in Portugal. As a matter of fact, I took a train back from Porto to Coimbra just to eat there again. The food is phenomenal

First of all I suggest reserving a table, to make sure you don't have to queue up for this place, and you can do that very easily online. If you want local then this is your place because, they don't even have the menu in English! The staff were super friendly and took the time to explain the different options for us, and even recommended their best dishes, the dishes usually came with some form of potatoes and rice( being the only non Portuguese couple there, they really took care of us throughout the night) The portions were massive, leaving you very satisfied. Although I'm not a big cake lover. When it came to dessert, it was fruit, little dishes of sweet creams then more cakes! It actually came at a surprise because each time we thought it was the last piece, he just kept coming back giving us a different cake! Lastly..the price was so cheap...that I left a bigger tip. I really have to thank this place for the great experience they created for me and my partner amazing! OBRIGADO!!

Great food! Good service. This "espetada a Telheiro" is for 2 but will happily feed 3, and for 25€ I'd definitely recommend it.

Perfectly cooked stewed rabbit. Great house wine. Our favorite meal of this trip by far. We were between trains and they were understanding, quick, and very kind.

The service at this place is top-notch! The place was full if locals and we really stuck out but they made us feel so welcome. Definitely the most friendly and accommodating place we’ve eaten at in Portugal. Our server gave up recommendations on fish entrees and they were both delicious.

Overall: the food was wonderful and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable from the moment we walked in.

Amazing portions of great local fare, friendly staff, filled with locals. Was a great spot to eat while waiting for the train to Porto. Highly recommend you get the specials of the day; cheese and meat starter is the way the locals go; many around us ate family style with steaks hanging from skewers. Bottles of wine left for you to pour as you need. A huge amount of food for 25 Euros. Love when come across a fun diversion like this!

Great restaurant. Don't be scared by the outer look, the food is great, the staff is VERY helpful and the value is amazing.
Customers are also very friendly. Locals love this place, we were eating amongst workers having lunch, retired people enjoying their afternoon and even a birthday party.

Fantastic food, generous portions. We joined the queue waiting for the restaurant to open, a good sign! The staff seemed a little brusque at first - but once everyone was sat they showed their true colours and were very friendly and helpful. We ordered two mains to share for a family of four, and with the selection of starters and puddings provided this was plenty. Meat was perfectly cooked. We were offered more food, but honestly couldn't eat any more. 'Natas do Ceu' was a particular highlight of desert. All this plus beer and wine, and we were shocked at how cheap it was at the end.
Highly recommended.

The service is on high level, even though they don't speak much English. They tried their best and we got the great food.

I recommend it if you have some spares time before the train. The best place there.

Don't be fooled by the looks of the restaurant from the outside, because the food was really tasty and the portions big enough for 2 persons.

Best restaurant in Coimbra. Be sure to book a table way ahead if you have your heart set on this restaurant as the wait can be long and the unfaithful might give up...don't. It's totally worth the wait. And then some.

Had a quick lunch stopover between trains at this restaurant. Service and good was fantastic. Would recommend it 100% tot everybody looking for a good meal with even better service.

My favorite restaurant in Coimbra. Love the grilled meat and the original way the my serve deserts! The catch: be there when it opens or you'll have to wait for a table.

Great food with a familiar environment. It also has a good selection of deserts and the possibility to have desert buffet for groups

What a place and what a menu! It can get crowded but the atmosphere and the food compensate the downsides!

You need either a reservation or a lot of patience. Since it's so good the place is usually crowded at lunch and dinner times

The place to go to eat picanha in Coimbra. The service is great and they will continue to bring picanha to the table until you give up XD
