Santa Clara Dam

Beautiful wilderness area just over an hour from the coast. Off season so not much going on but I think it would be rather busy on weekends and later in the year. Enjoying the peace and sounds of nature.

Amazing blue, swimmable water, a grand Hotel that overlooks the lake with huge views. Quiet, peaceful and able to find your own space away from every one. Great cafe on top of a converted bus! Amazing food. A brilliant day out from the coast.

Great place to swim in a huge lake, enjoy nature and nice views. Bring everything you would need for a perfect day out, best would be a picnic basket, walk up to the tables near the swimming (ha) pools, get comfy.

Santa Clara Country Hotel met owner Madalena Silva. Lovely lovely lady. Need hire car from ryanair but great base for walking in mountains and lakes. Got canoes perfect pontoon 600metres away for access lots parking area. Absolutely 5 star rooms lounge dining area. Approx 70euros per night but deals for longer stays and groups. Stunning views from dining area balconies patios and bedrooms. Perfect to chill out and Perfect host. Will be booking stay next year. Will b putting photos on trip advisor. Enjoy xxx

What a serene spot! (In January). Beautiful view with a breathtaking sun making its way down. Definitely worth a lunchbreak!

New sign saying no vehicles across the dam bridge even though there is picnic area over the other side. A few Motorhomes were parked there as we used to do. Not sure what the situation is now.

Stunning views over the lake and beyond. A beautiful quiet spot that shows you a different side of Portugal.

Beautiful place for swimming and walking

Awesome place to enjoy a bath in the lake and the view, the water is way warmer than on the beaches. There are no restaurants nearby, so think of bringing a pic nic and you will have a great time !

Just went for a walk and it's very nice

I have visits several times over the last decade, fantastic place in the summer but be aware the water is running low.

Spent a week here wild camping last year. It was a great place to cool off in the hot weather, some lovely walks and the "swimming pool" is a great attraction. Would highly recommend for a visit if you're passing or looking for a day out. Worth taking a picnic or lunch with you.

Beautiful, peaceful, great coffee and cakes

Great place to relax, don't have a lot of other things to say. Might be more enjoyable if you have kids, they can swim safely in one of the pools.

Great walks here. Park in the village of Santa Clara a Velha and there are 2 very well marked walks with lovely views
