Maré Cheia

Cannot say anything bad about this place. What a wonderful experience. This is what happens when you know someone that knows the most authentic places in a city! The quality of food was amazing, taste and texture danced, flavors flew. I cannot speak highly enough of this. The European eel dishes in two forms were amazing!

For dessert try Nara do ceu, very sweet!

Great sea food restaurant. It's not the romantic kind since it can get loud and noisy. There are quite a few dishes that are meant for two or more people. So if you're trying to try a bit of everything then that can get expensive since the servings are large.

The hosts are helpful ask them. They will be happy to recommend the food and wine paring.

Seafood was great. Kinda pricy but the quality is pretty good.

I recently visited this restaurant and I was very impressed with it. The fish and meat were really good, and the atmosphere was amazing. What really made the experience stand out was the great staff - they were so friendly and attentive. It's rare to find a restaurant that gets everything right, but this one did, and it definitely deserves a great review!

If you love seafood, Maré Cheia is the place for you! We ordered the seafood platter for two. Definitely enough food for three. Every single mouthful was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Service was excellent. One of my mow favorites in Aveiro.

Excellent restaurant. We were two without a reservation and they proposed the bar to eat. Very good experience. The bartender was professional and friendly. The food was tasty and seasoned well. For the first restaurant in Aveiro it's a 5/5!

Has lunch here. Very good food. Lobster in garlic sauce was the best lobster we had for some time. Fish was grilled to perfection. We are sad that we can't come back since we are moving on to other parts of Portugal.

I have been traveling Spain and Portugal for the past three month, trying different local quality restaurants sought after through talking to locals recommendations. Maré Cheia in Aveiro takes top 2 with a Vitoria, Basque Country Restaurant and all of their Basque cuisine glory. I cant wait to try more food like the one from Maré Cheia in Aveiro

Please eat the calamari and the fried John Dory. The fish is fresh, juicy, buttery. Best fried fish I had in Europe

Where does one start?! The service was great, the atmosphere was good and the food was incredible. If ever in Aveiro again, definitely coming again!

The best restaurant for fish in Aveiro! Make sure you have booked a table in advance if you want to have the chance to eat at this place. I am visiting Aveiro a lot and never miss to eat at this place at least once.

The soup is so so, the fried eel is a speciality in town, must try, we have a half portion. Service is excellent. Do make reservation, we went in a low season but it was still pack at lunch.

Amazing food, amazing service.
Would definitely recommend the steak it gets heated on hot stones extremely tender and juicy.

We had Eel stew. It says the portion is for 2 but it’s more like for at least 3 people. The eel was melt-in-your-mouth and the stew gravy was very flavourful. (We wanted to order the seafood rice but it states on the menu that it’s for 3 pax - we should have asked if they are able to half the portion as we saw a regular customer receiving a much smaller pot of the rice. Not sure.) Chef Costa and the staff were so welcoming and humorous and made this short visit truly memorable. Chef couldn’t speak English but made an effort to interact with us and took a photo with us too :) No wonder there is a steady stream of people coming in. Food was top notch and service was fantastic. Please do make a reservation in advance as they are quite full in the evening.

Best daily dish set in Aveiro with outdoor seating. Ask for the 'Prato do dia'. Normally 3 options. Any one of the fish options will not disappoint!

Nice sea food restaurant. Tried fried eels which I didn't know how to eat and I have finally used my hands. The rice that came with them was very good with some mussels and shrimps. The big mussels were nice though as an aperitif. Fish is not my type of food but worth trying it when being here for the local authentic taste.
