Bar do Rio

Nestled in between Vila Nova de Cerveira and Caminha, one of Portugal’s best kept secrets in the the Northern Minho Region, you will find in the small village of Lanhelas a riverside bistro “Bar do Rio”.

Aurea the owner and chef, along with her sister Fati, prepared us a delicious octopus appetizer “Polvo à Galega” and an exquisite main dish “Bacalhau à Rio”, that we enjoyed with every bite.

Aurea and Fati are so extremely friendly and attentive, that my friends visiting from the US and I, simply felt as if we were dining in our own homes!

It is a small restaurant with a family ambience, so be sure to reserve a table in advance, and Aurea can even prepare for you various typical Minho dishes if just let her know a few days in advance.

I am already making plans to return and enjoy the seafood rice!

I stopped while cycling by. I loved the location; all by itself in quite a quiet spot, with a nice view.. The serve beers snacks and francesinha, probably other things too!

This bar on the river is great and we are regular visitors . They offer the usual beers and wines and do cocktails as a special. The view of the river is spectacular . This is not a food place but do offer toasted sandwiches . Well worth an afternoon to chill out.

Lugar tranquilo e muito agradável na margem do rio minho. Atendimento muito simpático. Gostei muito de comer um prego em pão acompanhado pela cerveja 1906 🙂

La carne es más que excelente! Tierna rica y bien hecha. La señora que atiende es muy simpática. Mira al rio y es relajante. Sin problema para aparcar

Un sitio muy agradable donde poder ir a tomar algo o comer. La carne esta buenisima y las alitas son obligatorias. Beberse una SuperBock y comer tan rico al escasos metros del río no tiene precio. Y la atención es excelente! También les encanta a nuestros queridos perretes.

Leuke bar , gezellig even wat drinken na varen op de rivier met vrienden. Er is een aanlegplaats voor bootjes.

Le troquet idéalement placé pour profiter des rives du Minho. Tartes maison et équipe très sympathique.

Stylisches Hotel( schöne Kombi zw. Alt und Neu), super zentral in der Altstadt. Gutes Essen, aber nicht ganz billig( Pilgermenü EUR 25).

Buena comida, el servicio súper agradable y facilitando todo lo que no entendíamos. Muy recomendable 😉
