Adega Típica O Telheiro

Not only were we amazed by the great selection of delicious dishes, but also by their great wine selection. We had a wonderful experience there and even got to taste some of the best Portuguese traditional dishes. The food was really scrumptious and the prices were very reasonable, making it an attractive option for anyone looking for amazing Portuguese cuisine. The friendly staff made us feel so welcomed that it felt like we were at home! All in all, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves good food and great wine selection.

Outstanding meal! I wish we had more than one night in Aveiro so that we could eat here again (and I am not one to visit a restaurant twice during vacation)! The large basket of bread and cheeses to start was wonderful. My partner and I shared the caldeirada de enguias (eel stew) for our meal. The meat easily pulled off the bone, making what I thought would be a difficult task very easy. My partner was hesitant as he is not very adventurous with food, but we both thought it was delicious and an incredible portion - we unfortunately couldn't finish it even though we sat for an hour trying. I'd say the stew could feed 5 people no problem. I'd also be remiss not to mention that the service was wonderful, and watching the open fire cooking and everyone at the bar bustling during our meal was very entertaining.

We loved the smokey grill and had the robalo fish, which was cooked beautifully. Also had tasty bacalhau con natas and a good duoro red wine. Great value. We liked the service and atmosphere too.

Great food, a bit pricy. The service and the staff are very efficient but maybe they were a bit overwhelmed the day I dinned there. They weren’t that nice. But it doesn’t put me off going there again.

Not touristy at all.

Great spot to go to for fresh fish, since they’re right next to the fish market! We had a deliiiiicious grilled seabass (robalo). The restaurant has 3 separate rooms to have lunch/dinner, so it’s accommodating for social distancing. They also desinfect the whole table/chairs etc in front of you before you sit down. Would love to go again for more fresh fish!

Food was excellent, Fish was fresh and flavorful. Sardines were amazing. Excellent staff, great experience. Highly recommend here for food you will not be disappointed. A local tipped us to go to this place.

If you come to Aveiro, you have to come to O Telheiro: you will be surrounded by local people and you will have to opportunity to try delicious specialties. It was a great experience!

So rustic that hardly anyone speaks more than three words of English :-) The rudimentary English menu doesn't help much either. Anyway, I got an excellent fish soup and a grilled octopus with a very interesting but great salad-vegetable preparation. A lovely experience.

The food is very delicious!!! There is a dessert called La sorpresa de la casa and it really was a surprise!! It was very delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Great restaurant. Very friendly staff and wonderful, traditional Portuguese food at a reasonable price. Everyone was very helpful and we enjoyed an excellent meal. They even welcomed us with our dog who sat quietly under the table but was also well looked after and fussed over.

O Telheiro has a really nice and cosy restaurant focussing on traditional Portugese dishes with local ingredients. The fish and meats are grilled on a charcoal grill giving the dishes a lot of flavour. For dessert you can choose from a big selection of homemade desserts like chocolate mousse and Pudim Flan.

O Telheiro is a great traditional Portuguese restaurant. Three of us had lunch there last Tuesday. Place is much larger that it looks like from outside. Pretty much full. Mostly with Portuguese, but a couple of tables with tourists. Grilled sardines were grilled perfectly. Deep fried smelt also excellent. The bread and starters were actually good! Bacalhau w/ chick peas was excellent; as was tuna salad w/ black-eyed peas. A couple of carafes of house white (@ 4.50 each) complimented perfectly. Next time we are Aveiro will definitely go for dinner.

One of my favorites in Aveiro. Huge variety on the menu. Bacalhau na côdea / bread bowl cod fish is my favorite dish so far. One of these can serve 3 people. Can be very busy on the weekend and therefore a bit slower, But well worth the wait.

The best restaurant i have had since a long time!! Segredos de porco preto ils amazing :))) all the staff was kind and professional, i highly recommand this experience.
