O Buraco

We came across the restaurant by chance. Don’t be put off by the downstairs bar. Upstairs is a gem and a really great value restaurant. Fresh fish, rice with beans and tomato rice were all excellent. Desserts looked great too but we were too full!

1… Our super special hostess… Maiara was the BEST. From her telling about the menu… specials… everything!! She was amazing!! The food!??!? Delicious!! There was 5 of us.. we all loved our food!! Definitely recommend

This is a very good restaurant. Staff people are very nice, food is amazing, and prices are excellent with respect to the quality of the food. Five stars!

Very relaxed atmosphere. Upstairs and downstairs. Ate codfish with cream. Tried a drink which never had, called St Louis Framboise beer from Belgium. Situated on a quite road so look for it.

Lovely restaurant run by a young Brazilian couple: Maiara is at the front of the house and her husband in the kitchen. The menu is exiting and has single and sharing options. We shared olives, bread, butter and a plate of ham, all lovely. My octopus rice was so delicious that we would come back for more immediately. My husband had an excellent steak. Service is charming, relaxed, we seemed to laugh a lot while talking to our lovely hostess. Good wine.

We visited O Buraco recently and it was such a great find in Aveiro. Their chef recommends beer pairings according to your selected meal, which let us try some interesting and great beers that I haven't had before (thank you for suggesting a tasty Belgian ale!). The food was really good - I loved the seafood ragout and my partner had steak with their creamy 3 cheese sauce. I highly recommend checking them out if you're looking for dining options in Aveiro.

Such a great experience!! Best food we've had in Portugal so far and Miata was adorable - gave us great tips / spots to visit in Aveiro and was so much fun!

We had a wonderful meal here, by far the highlight of our time in Aviero, which basically appears to be a construction site. Our meal was delicious, simple, but exquisitely made and perfect in its elements. The hosts were engaging and generous. You should eat here.

Run by husband (the cook) and wife (host/server). She is very gracious and patient, translating every menu item into English for us. She made us feel like family (in a good way) throughout the night. Food is very good, esp the creamed cod and very reasonably priced. Bar downstairs, dining room upstairs with a wood burning fireplace. Big selection of mostly Belgium beers and some wine.

Great place, delicious food and friendly owners. We had lunch offer - beans soup and something like tuna tartare, both delicious. And not expensive at all!

Excellent place to have lunch or dinner. The owner is super nice. Food is cheap for what it is, the dish costs around 6-8€. Typical portuguese dishes cooked with love.

This cosy hideaway has plenty of room and delicious food, beer and wine. The prices are very reasonable and the owners are friendly and will make you feel right at home.
