Dear Polish National Archives at Mlawa, Poland:

Last week four of us went to Mlawa so that I could try to trace my family’s origins. Two of the archivists went out of their way to make the visit a most pleasant and productive one.

Therefore, I want to thank especially, Wieslawa Lampkowska and Piotr Karwowski, both of Mlawa, for all the work they have done on our behalf.

The Archives should be proud to have such excellent researchers on the staff.

We were able to trace the family somewhat, I believe, since we thought our family name was Dratwa. Ms. Lampkowska discovered the death records of my grandfather’s grandmother, named Rebecca Dratwa.

The next day we went to the murder site at Treblinka, where I believe many of the Jewish people of Mlawa were taken to be murdered by the Nazis. There we paid our respects to these fallen heroes.

Our deepest thanks to Ms. Lampkowska and Mr. Karwowski, in Mlawa.
