Hotel Grand Gurez

Our staying in the hotel was amazing and staff was super helpful. This is little offbeat location and hence there will be issue in the electricity.

But apart from all odds, it is worth to visit the place and this hotel.

We were in Grand Gurez last year Oct 2023. I had booked 6 months before hand over phone with Mr.Nasir. Before reaching there I had confirmed everything with him over phone and also mentioned him clearly about my 1.5year old toddler. Asked him about the stay and electricity supply, other heating amenities and other facilities. I remember clearly he said nothing to worry about and everything will be taken care of . After I reach there on 21st Oct for almost 6 hours travelling over bumpy roads and multiple checking in check-posts of Indian army I find everything to be fishy in the hotel. Like Mr.Nasir hardly happens to be there in Gurez and rather stays in Srinagar most of the times due to his political reasons. I didn't even see his face once in person. The hotel is managed by his uncle and a helper guy named as Sameer. As the time passed by after reaching the hotel the first thing I notice is electricity problem. I just couldn't make food for my toddler. Geyser not working . The water is chilled and most importantly they are charging variable tariff to tourists. To me Mr.Nasir charged 8600k with breakfast . But at the same time there when I spoke to other tourists they were charged much lesser. Also due to the lack to amenities we decided to leave the next day although booked for 2 nights , immediately called Mr.Nasir and informed him about our departure , but next day his uncle misbehaved with us and started asking for more money. We didn't want any further argument with an aged man so we gave the money to him and departed. Overall had a harsh and pathetic experience in the hotel.

It was a pleasure staying with Grand Gurez. The rooms were cool n cozy despite the sunny weather outside. The Receptionist Sameer was of magnanimous help and support. All the arrangements of transport and food were very well taken care of. The hotel was kept very neat and clean. They provide you with all the information of the locality, places to visit and the directions to reach those places.The hotel is located near to the log hut cafe which is a very good place if you want to have fast food. Utmost security and care has been provided to all the customers. The Reply to customers is prompt but the action takes a little time to be done as it can be understood due to the limited availability of supplies at Gurez and the difficulty in procuring the goods required. Nevertheless, It was a pleasant, calming and friendly atmosphere at “The Grand Gurez”.

One of the best places we visited in the entire Kashmir trip: Grand Gurez. Though, it was a bit of hassle due to one way traffic as per the Government instructions. Also, due to the very tight security and multiple check points (4 to 5 check post) by BSF, Army and J&K Police since it is close to LOC. However, it was all for the safety of the common man.

We didn't have much expectations from the property since it is situated in a remote place. However, it came up as a surprise that from Room to Bathroom everything was very neat and clean. Also, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Though, the resources are limited, they will do their best to make your stay comfortable. Special thanks to Sameer, who was always available to serve you be it early in the morning or late night. The food was also nice. The rooms were spacious and clean.

The host Mr Bashir is a thorough gentleman. Somebody has rightly mentioned that the Gurez's are Amazingly simple, gentle, honest, kind, helpful and soft spoken.

While the stay itself is good enough but in case you want to explore: Habba Khatoon is another must visit place

Last but not the least, the Grand Gurez is a beautiful place to stay which offers everything u need...

We visited in 2nd week of May with 11 people. Hotel is beautiful room's are absolutely clean and the staff is very helpful. Owner Nasir is most of the time available in the hotel so you don't have to worrry about the service. Sameer thr runner boy is commendable and very sweet.

Things to remember in Gurez they have electricity issue so no lights backup is thr but it can be a disturbance for workaholic or gadget frndly people. Weather is very unpredictable here so make sure u carry thermals and warm clothes. Heaters are not available but they provide hot water bags.

Food is awesome not at all spicy cooked in a very homely style. Make sure you taste thr local pickels.

If you wanna get away from everything and just be with yourself this is the place for you. Amazing location thanks Nasir see soon again🙂

The Grand Gurez is one of the oldest hotel establishments in the Gurez Valley. It’s got a unique vintage design to the shape of the building. The entire building is very cosy with carpets lining the whole floor.

Although Gurez Valley was chilly, our stay was warm and hearty thanks to our host Sami and his trusted right hand man, the bhai (who’s name has slipped my mind). Bhai made sure that he always had a beautiful smile on his face and that made the whole experience lovely.

Our recent stay at the Grand Gurez was an absolute delight. The hotel's beautiful setting, and stunning location were surpassed only by the incredible hospitality we received from the staff.

The owner, Nasir, was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was incredibly caring and generous, going out of his way to ensure that our every need was met. From arranging transportation to offering helpful tips and suggestions for things to do in the area, Nasir's warm and welcoming demeanor made us feel right at home.

I also want to give a special shoutout to Sameer, who truly went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. His super helpful nature and exceptional customer service made him a superstar in our eyes. He was always available to answer any questions we had, and he made sure that we had everything we needed to make the most of our stay at the Grand Gurez.

I’d highly recommend anyone travelling to Gurez to give Nasir, sameer and Grand gurez a chance, they are surely going to surprise you with the warmth of their hearts

Must visit place and must stay at this place, surrounded with mountains and yes without any doubt this is one of the best valley.
About stay staff was nice must meet Sameer bhai, peace environment with safety.

Nice place. Staff is polite and helpful. Food was good . Despite limited electricity hours, hot water was available.Make sure you book your room with meal options because you won’t find any restaurants nearby.

One of the best places to stay in Gurez. Even though the resources are limited, they will do their best to make your stay comfortable. Special shoutout to FAIZAN. He took us around for hiking n brought us hot water in buckets.

Firstly GUREZ VALLEY is just out of the world. This is actual Kashmir, Untouched, unexplored, pure nature. Gurez has to be on the list of destinations to visit in Kashmir.
In such an amazing location GRAND GUREZ is an ideal place to stay.
Good location, amazing views of snow capped mountains, very cozy rooms, excellent food and even better service.
Overall just perfect in every way.

Room is spacious & the location is exact at the heart of vampora, all the locations are nearby like Army Cafe and khandyal top. Host is super amazing and he will guide you with proper directions if you want to explore. Its safe and must visit place

THIS WAS THE BEST HOTEL IN OUR ENTIRE KASHMIR TRIP. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT IN THE HOTEL FROM THE MANAGER,CO-WORKERS TO THE ROOMS,FOOD,ETC . OUR EVERY NEEDS WERE FULLFILLED BY THE WORKERS WITHIN MINUTES OF ORDERING. THEY EVEN STARTED A BONFIRE FOR FREE.
I WOULD RECOMMEND EACH OF EVERYBODY TO SPEND NIGHTS IN THIS HOTEL IF ONE VISITS KASHMIR.

Staff is friendly. Mr. Tareeq is helpful is assisting stay. Dinner provided was delicious. Worry staying here.

Best part is, I found a mosque nearby and didn’t miss prayer.
