If you like old churches, this is a must-visit, as the church was built around the 15th century. The outer facade has aged well and remains intact. Although we didn't get to enter inside as it closes at 4 pm, we saw the interior from the entrance, and the ceiling with wooden supports amazed us. The tiles used for the floor are also a nice detail.

Must visit this historical Parish Church in Pampanga.

You would know the history of it before and after the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991.

A historical church named after Bacolor's patron Saint, San Guillermo.

Our friend Krizia graciously gave us a quick tour around the place sharing daunting stories of how the whole place was half - buried due to the ravaging lahar back in the 90s following a series of eruption from Mt. Pinatubo.

Fast forward to today, the church is still being used as a place of worship, symbolic of the Kapampangan people's bravery and resilience. In fact, there was a wedding ceremony during our visit and despite the celebration, I can still feel the solemnity of the place.

The old convent turned into museum wing where church relics are kept alongside old photographs of the lahar tragedy gave me goosebumps. I dunno! It's as if I can hear and feel the tragedy that was. Naiyak nga ako e!

When in Bacolor, Pampanga, don't miss the chance to visit the place. Bubusugin ang puso mo ng mga nakakaantig na kwento. And BTW, dito pala kinunan ang teleseryeng Santino. 😊

This church continues to serve the town of Bobolor even after the disastrous eruption of Mt. Pinatubo June 15, 1991. The ground is now 8ft higher than it was before. Imagine that!!!

An old and historical Church in Pampanga. The church is a living witness to many of the countries rich history, including being one of the churches in this region to be buried by volcanic sand.
A must place to visit for Catholic pilgrims.

The church is amazing and you can clearly see the historical truths and the actual damages made by the lahar.

This place is absolutely beautiful even though half of it is buried under volcanic ejecta. There is a cemetery at the back as well as a museum on the side, I highly reccomend visiting on any given day.

The San Guillermo Church is one of the oldest churches in Pampanga. It was named after Bacolor's patron saint, San Guillermo, where the church is located. It is also known as the “half-buried church” of Bacolor because of the lahar overflow in the province during Mount Pinatubo's eruption in 1991. Must visit this place with your family and friends⛪🤎

San Guillermo Church is one of the seven churches on our list for our Lenten Pilgrimage. Good thing they maintain the preservation of this church! It has a quiet environment and a conducive atmosphere for prayer.

San Guillermo Parish Church in Bacolor, Pampanga, Philippines is named after San Guillermo, the town's patron saint. The church was originally constructed by the Augustinian Friars in 1576 – also the town's founding – with Padre Diego de Ochoa, OSA, becoming the town's first parish priest two years later.

Must visit church for those looking for old churches.

The first church was built by the Augustinian friars in 1576 on the lot of Don Guillermo Manabat, a rich landlord believed to be the founder of Bacolor. An earthquake destroyed the church and a new church was built by Fr. Manuel Diaz in 1897. It has a central nave and well-lighted transept with windows. The main Retablo, side retablos and pulpit are gilded with gold leaf. The richness of the decoration of Bacolor church depicts the advanced stage of Baroque and Rococo. In spite of the 1991 eruption of MOUNT PINATUBO, which half-buried the church on October 1, 1995, the structure is still being used as place of worship. It was already a world-renowned tourist destination before the lahar tragedies; now more tourists flock to the church whose remaining features are being preserved and maintained.

San Guillermo church was named after San Guillermo, the patron saint of Bacolor town in Pampanga province and was constructed in 1576 by Augustinians.
It was buried from lahar flow during the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991, so what remained was half of the church and the bell tower.
There is a museum with paintings that tell the story of what happened to the community during the volcano eruption.

Relaxing at solemn ang lugar with a touch of history. Open rin palagi yung museum nila (for free) if you want to take a look about the church's history.
