Ruins Of Alcatraz

Definitely a place to unwind while watching the waves crashing into the rocks. A go to place for relaxing and enjoying the view. On the horizon, you can see the Mantalinga Island, and the fishing boats going out to the sea.

Missed to take a photo of the whole view of the ruins 🥲 You can have picnics at the top under the trees and enjoy the view of the beach extending from Culasi to Baybay area. Expect nothing here but this nice view. And there are children that will ask you to be their guide and photographer. 😁

We had our guide to take us there and then 2 kids joined our tour. They were taking our photos.

Place is nice. View is great.

We set out to Roxas City early on Friday morning to enjoy the seafood and see the Alcatraz Ruins in Barangay Nipa, Roxas City. I was amazed by its strategic location, but I was curious about the story behind the Alcatraz Ruins that I want to write a review.

The Alcatraz Ruins is locally known as the Bermejo Alcatraz, owned by the Bermejo family and the fortress was like those in the Alcatraz prison in San Francisco, U.S.A.

My analogy is if they built the Alcatraz Prison walls to keep notorious criminals from escaping the Alcatraz Ruins' massive walls could be to protect the integrity of the plateau and keep it intact once the resort is open.

The main attraction of Alcatraz Ruins is the massive walls of its facade used as cinematic inspirations in the movie The Maze Runner and the anime Attack on Titan.

Being on the northeastern part of Panay Island makes for a perfect spot to watch the sunrise. If my research serves me right, the original plan was to develop Alcatraz into a resort and ultimately a tourist spot by building an infinity pool and restaurant at the top of the plateau.

For unconfirmed reasons, the Bermejos abandoned the place because of family problems or politics that kept them from developing this resort. I heard of plans for rehabilitation, but Super Typhoon Yolanda made them think otherwise.

You must take at least 100 steps (I lost count) to reach the top of the plateau, but it's well worth it. The top is like a labyrinth because of its circular shape without the geometric paths, of course. It was a wonderful sight to behold the expanse of the sea. For now, it is an idyllic spot for meditation.

Some place never gets old. If you're an explorer, traveler etc. you are welcome to visit this wonderful place. There are many locals that will guide you to Ruins of Alcatraz. On our last visit we were guided by kids from entrance to exit.

If you're a fan of Attack of Titan, you'll gonna imagine a Titan might come out. Well, get that inner Eren/Misaka in you. 😂Good for sweet escape if you love the sea. You might feel you're Helen of Troy or some Goddess living in the upper world.
If it will be maintained and groomed, put gardens and benches, this place will make a crowd. This is place is really memorable to me, and to my friends since one of the most important person in our life passed away and he was the one who brought us here. Such a memorable moment to treasure. 🙏🏻
A car cannot really past though the gate so you have to walk just to get on the top. Maybe just a few minutes walking and then the sea will say Hi! If you're maalwan or kind hearted and have a car, please consider giving tips to locals securing your car.

The Hidden Wonder of Roxas City. Top view part very refreshing.. Cold weather. Nice sunset and calming waves beneath the shore..

It's a WOW.

Nice little place. Excellent view. There's a little boy can shoot decent photo. We gave him 50 pesos after our visit but he's asking for 100 :)

This place can be quite picturesque. The locals are pretty welcoming too. You can find some really nice place for a fantasy themed photoshoot.

No entrance fee. 15-30 minute tricycle ride from Roxas airport highway. Kids would even offer to be guides and photographers for just 20 pesos. No worries for solo travelers.

So amazing place

This was said built as a hotel but was abandoned and now ruin. Entering in the Ruins of Alcatraz in Roxas City, Capiz is of free charge. You may want to drop by and take a pic of this as a background.

Good place to unwind and relax and feel the breeze of the sea. Great view from the top.

A supposed would-be resort that was abandoned during its concstruction when conflicts arise with the owners of it, or so the locals claim that was the story of it and why it is abandoned
