The people here are very friendly and would offer you to try and experience making a clay jar for free. There’s no fee but they do accept donations—any amount would do as long as you are willing and it’s from the heart. We went here on a weekday morning and we were the only tourists at that time, so we were able to make the most out of our visit.

This is one of the best experiences I had during my vacation in Vigan, where I tried making a jar. From Crisologo Museum, we just walked to RG Jar Factory. There weren't many people that day, so I didn't hesitate to try experiencing how to make a jar using clay. But of course, you should still give a tip somehow to the person who taught you, hehe. Aside from the experience, you can also buy available vases, candle holders, and jars.

My weekday visit was not in vain!

I was fortunate to be there when a group of travelers were being given a brief history and demo of how jars were made.

The jar maker let me work on the jar he started. I couldn't bring the finished product since it needs to rest for days and has to be baked.

It was a fun experience nevertheless 🤩

If you're looking for some pottery and want to dip your hands into a bit of pottery making, this place is for you! They offer free pot making sessions, and if you are interested, you can take home the pot you made. They also sell pots for many aplications. One is a special ash tray where the smoke comes out of the mouth of the pot head, and they also sell a special pot for storing salt. It's a nice place to check out if you're ever in the area.

We had an amazing experience! We went here early in the morning of August 29th. Everyone was welcoming. They greeted us and told us to go directly to the pottery area. We were able to experience how to make a small pot, while Kuya was assisting us.
He also gave us a tour of the area while explaining the whole process of making a jar/pot.
There's no fee but tips are welcome.
Parking is available. No fee as well.
Overall, this is an amazing experience and I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary if you're planning to visit Vigan/Ilocos Sur.

Great experience. The staff encourage you to try your hand at the wheel, and we got a tour of the oven. Very friendly service when we were buying a few things for home. Highly recommended.

RG Jar Factory is where you can see how to make different things out of clay. They will allow you to learn how to make a bowl, jar, lamp, etc out of clay and it's for free. You can leave a donation if you want to...
Must visit this place and experience it by yourself.

Hidden adventure. Free entrance. Donate as you please. It's clay pottery everywhere, and it's the manual, classic way. It's one thing to buy pottery, it's another to try and make one, which you can, partially that is. In this factory, you can buy souvenirs, fans, hats and more besides pottery, but they can be pricey. On the side, there are kalesa riders that you can book. Some people went for these.

The potter master said that clay pottery is a dying industry nowadays, something that remains a source of living for those who are skilled in making them and yet is a hobby for others on the richer spectrum of society.

In this open air factory, the potter master will demonstrate first how to mold the clay. It looks simple when you're watching him do it until you actually try it. You can try it, just remember to give a tip for his snack or so afterwards. He's very friendly and truly proud of his work as a potter, you can sense the dignity of knowing that special skill in him.

You can try to shape the clay he sets on the spinning wood, one that's pulled downward by a rope. However, molding can be tricky for the first-timer shaping clay that's viscous and sticky. I'm good with my hands in mixing and preparing reagents from school, but pottery is a whole new world! He doesn't tell you how to shape it, so you have to find and sense the feel for it.

At first, it helped me to push the clay a little hard and then to push gently with less pressure upward later on. Your hands have to be moist with water. There's a water barrel on the side, and it's not for washing hands! Anyways, you can push with both thumbs inward to create a hole. If you mess up with the clay, let it dry a little on the side before sticking it back to whatever you're trying to make, if you manage to make something. For the interests of time, you can't bake the clay afterwards in the kiln and the trial is limited to shaping it.

The entire experience was fun. I washed my hands from the hose that ran on the side. But the clay can get to your watch, so just be careful or remove it temporarily if you'll try it out.

Another must try when you visit Ilocos Sur. You can visit this before you go to Calle Crisologo.

You can try pottery here for voluntary tip only! Then you have the option to buy your crestion for 150! :) Marami rin available na pottery items for sale and the owner/staff was kind enough to tour us around the place and show us where the high quality jars are cooked. They told us that it was even featured in international documentary channels and visited by scientists.

Free to enter and try your hand at throwing. A fantastic find. The descendants of the original owner are still running it and it's now the fourth generation. Got a tour of the dragon kiln which was fascinating. Tried the throwing as well. It's harder than it looks.

A great place to buy locally made jars and even get a demonstration and try pottery yourself! You have the option to buy the jar you made or simply buy from them. The demonstration does not have a fee, but they highly encourage tips.

The staff were amazing and nice, we learned a lot about pottery and the dying culture since they get little to no support from the government, especially with stricter nature guidelines.

Visit them to support the art and know about the locality in Ilocos Sur.

Totally amazing, still using traditional methods and the massive Kiln is over 100 years old still in use. Many beautiful jars and artwork for sale.
