Despite the July 2022 earthquake, the Bantay Bell Tower stands tall and proud. It's a testament to its resilience. A must-visit historical site. The view from the top is breathtaking!

Due to the earthquake, you can't enter the tower now. Regretful. The Philippine heritage was damaged by the earthquake. It is a beautiful and pious place

Nice place for a bit of history. You can go up for a bird's eye view of the city, though going up is not for the elderly. Fantastic photo ops.

Old stuff fascinates me, probably because there’s so much history and a whole lot of story in there... like this tower! It sits on a majestic hill. Fresh, province air through and through once you reach the top. The place is well maintained, it’s clean. I knew for a fact that a lot of Filipino movies were shot here. Really glad I was able to visit with my family. You cannot leave Ilocos without checking this bell tower.

Historic Watch Tower. Mini outdoor chapel outside Bantay Church too if you need to take a restroom break for a donation. Entrance to watch tower grounds asks for a donation and registration prior to entry. The cultural minimum for locals is at 10 pesos or up. In Filipino culture, it is phrased as a donation, but the shame of losing face from not giving would make you give. It's for the upkeep of the tower, consider it like a small environmental fee like when you go to local beaches. Economically, the donation is just a drop in the ocean and may not be enough to preserve it. The watch tower was closed when we arrived, so we could only take photos from the outside. At the time, people weren't climbing up and stayed near the ground.

There are locals there who would offer to take your photo. One particular old man looked desperate to eat. Already rejected him yet kept coming back and begged the group. I let him take my photo with the tricks, just gave a tip afterwards. The tricks were fun to do anyways. It would seem like you're holding the bell tower from above, pushing, or holding it from below. You can also do some tricks with the clay jar pot. Just check the picture afterwards because the photos could get out of focus. If you like towers, this is a must-see even from afar.

With the tower closed, there's nothing much to do. Hope they reopen the inside soon.

It is closed for renovation due to an earthquake last July 2022. The personnel at the entrance took photos of me (I was alone) and the shots were great!

About 1km from Vigan, but worth the trip. Great views of the surrounding area. A tough little climb to get to the top, so pack your working knees, but worth it.

It was a great day when we went to visit Bantay Church Belltower! The cloud formations were awesome and indeed photograph worthy! As a hobbyist, i love taking photos of nature and it was truly a delight to see and capture these images, the skies seemed to be in harmony with my subject. Picture perfect! ❤

At the entrance, you have to register first and make some voluntary donations for the maintenance of the place. Indeed, it is well-maintained and your donations will surely serve its' purpose. This is also one of the most popular tourist destination in Ilocos.

A beautiful place of History of the North! They maintained the place very well. More foreigners are always spotted on this area. One thing I don't like is the one's who are on the entrance. They will tell you about donation but they are forcing you to give. No entrance fee is needed though.

Conveniently located near st agustine church, The locals in the church volunteers to take pictures of you with the bell tower as the tower itself is currently closed to tourists it being affected by the earthquake that hit the ilocos province earlier this year. The beauty of the church itself was not diminished by the tragedy and is still as picturesque as ever.

Hundreds of years ago, this tower was used as a vantage point to warn settlers on possible pirate incursions. Bantay means guard by the way. If you're visiting Vigan, visit the tower. Climb the steep stone stairs and wooden stairs to the bell tower. It gives you a panoramic view of Vigan and surrounding areas. Plus you get to hold tower bells hundreds of years old. Well worth the climb. Donations are used to maintain the bell tower and the park beside it.

What a beautiful, tranquil setting!
Steeped in history...

I caught a trycle there from Vigan City...20 pesos (cheap)

Once there...you can make a donation...it's not necessary but...out of respect & the money is put back into the upkeep of the area & wages!

A man assisted us with taking some really Kool pics...100 pesos

You can spend as long as you like there!

TIP: Get there early before all the tourists get there 😁

Breath taking! Its a nice place to take photo specially at sunset. It’s historically preserved and well take care. To get here just ride a tricycle from anywhere in vigan city fare is 40 each person about 20 to 30 mins depends on the traffic. There is a registration upon entrance then donation box depends on you also.

You really should visit if you are going on a tour to Ilocos. This is a historic landmark that stood the test of time. Entrance fee is okay, considering how good it's being managed. Don't go without climbimg the Tower for a more historic feel, and as a bonus, you'll get a great view of the whole town.

A must visit place in Vigan, I.Sur. The Bantay Bell Tower previously served as a watchtower for the town and for the nearby capital city of Vigan during the Spanish colonial period, protecting both areas from pirates and other enemies. Due to the recent earthquake, it is not safe to go near so visitors can only take pictures a distance from it. Beside the tower is the St. Augustine Parish Church.

Value appraised like gold as it old.
Bantay tower is a symbolism of Ilocanos stable faith, stronghold, pride and rich culture. This place is well guarded and clean. Caretakers and even the police are so warm and hospitable. You will surely be in "ARTISTA mode" as this structure entice you with cool angles to pose...
