Callao Monumental turismo histórico

The place is super cute and pretty but also quite small. Don’t expect it to be more than a few streets, a square and an art gallery. Before we went there, we were wondering if it will be safe to go. Callao is supposed to be a problematic neighborhood and also no Uber wanted to take us there. So we asked a driver and he told us that it’s better if you take an Uber to the fortress Real Felipe and then walk the last few meters. This worked for us. It was pretty cool. It’s definitely worth to see this project that makes Callao a better district. But better stay in the area that is made for tourists. Then you should be fine.

Nice area to walk around, get pictures, see art and shop. Apparently if you are not careful you may walk into areas that are not safe but we didn’t have any problems. We did struggle to get a taxi willing to take us out there though.

Must-stop spot in Callao, enjoy the graffiti, shops selling local art, and grab a bite to eat.

Incredible must-do in Lima.

The main square of Callao became an amazing tourist place with good restaurant options and a lot of street art. The Callao monumental is a building with a lot of expositions and an amazing terrace with increíble views of the coast and the port. If you go on the weekend you can catch live shows.

Safety tip: Take an Uber and explain to them to reach the place via the port which is way safer than other routes. Be careful of your surroundings and try to go with a group.

CALLAO MONUMENTAL– URBAN ART PROJECT IN LIMA

We'd heard a lot about the art project in Callao, Peru showcasing some of the best street art, contemporary galleries and artists throughout Lima.

So of course we had to check it out and learn about the area, and experience first hand the epic impact its had on the community!

While purposely getting lost in the amazing artistic streets of Callao, Peru we stopped for some delicious pasteries at a local favorite hotspot and enjoyed the colorful hanging streamers in the corridor walkway.

At a cafe we met an incredible local Albert from a near by Cuban art gallery that volunteered to show us around for the afternoon and we were eager to JUMP at the chance! You could feel the pride he had for his community as he showed off DOZENS & DOZENS of murals from small hidden away ones to some 5 stories tall!

A lovely neighborhood of Callao which has been turned into a cultural hub. Graffiti, art exhibitions, and much more. Would recommend a visit for sure be aware that the surrounding areas are not so safe.

Callao monumental is a great place to walk also will know about the Callao culture and all the art that you can't imagine, it's a perfect place to take picture and eat 😀

Very beautiful place

Many people will say "oh it's in Callao" no thanks. But this place is worth the trip. There are tours of this place on the weekend. If you are not firmly with the artist and neighborhood than I definitely recommend getting a tour. There are several murals around the neighborhood but the main building houses over 30 artist studios. If you have the time and don't mind taking the trip to Callao, you should check this place out!

A place that is reshaping the old and decayed port of Lima thanks to great South American contemporary art.

It is not just a spaceship landed in poor Callao, but a place that dialogue with its surrounding.
