Café Tostado

A great hidden gem serving local authentic food: they don’t have a menu, but they serve a couple of dishes every day. Their staple is the Conejo (rabbit) served with sweet potatoes and freshly squeezed orange juice. It was great to chat with the waitress, chef and other locals coming in. Friendly, relaxed and authentic.

Classic hole in the wall style with tasty food! Place can get full and run out of dishes so go early! Had rabbit for the first time and it was nicely juice and tender!

They also sell homemade (dry) pasta and sauces 😍

Got to appreciate a warm sancochado on a grey Lima day. This place is a neighbourhood classic that remains almost unchanged through the years, and that’s a good thing!

Deliciosa! We ordered the mushrooms and the rabbit - such interesting and delicious flavors. The service really set the place apart, though. We realized we were a few soles short for our bill, but they were super nice about it. We returned a few hours later with enough cash and they made friendly jokes about it.

It's really a hole in the wall kind of restaurant, but oh boy the rabbit in orange sauce on a bed of fried sweet potato was a bomb!!!

Tacos are amazing

Café Tostado es un verdadero paseo por el Mediterráneo y sus platos criollos son de antología. Un gran lugar para disfrutar sabores de antaño, de esos que ya no se ven a diario: Chicharrón de conejo a la naranja, Huatia, Champignones al ajillo, Sancochado, Menestron y un largo etcétera. Solo para conocedores.

He caido un par d viernes para coincidir c los maravillosos frejoles c bisteck. Cantidad servida evita la culpa, la sazón es casera y amable. Aun no pruebo el conejo, plato engreido del local. Llegar a pata, taxi o microbio.

Un lugar muy acogedor, te sientes como en casa, la comida deliciosa y el ambiente agradable, teniendo una decoración en el espacio de mucha historia, con fotos y cuadros de pintura de antaño. Recomendable visitar, ya sea con familia, amigos, y de paso un par de brindis.
El espacio es amplio como para ir en grupos.
La atención muy buena y rápida.
Y eso si, la comida es una sola , un menú único, a mi me tocó un fin de semana Tacu Tacu con asado de chanchito 🤤, acompañado de refresco un vaso de chica a 20 solcitos, de seguro precio regular pero lo vale, no niego que disfrute la comida y el momento.

Espectacular el piqueo de champiñones salteados y el conejo. Fui fin de semana y tocó tacu tacu, 10/10 todo. Solo efectivo
