This is a very historical church that goes back to 1876 when a modest chapel was first built in the Jirón Uruguay Nº 340, Callao. Construction began in 1952 to replace this with the exisiting church, the Immaculate Conception Church (Faro Temple) or in Spanish, Iglesia Inmaculada Concepción (Templo Faro). It was completed in 1957 and features a high tower, measuring about 70 meters high and a beautiful and dominant 7 meter high statue of the Immaculate Conception. The statue Immaculate Conception is illuminated at night and served as a guide to the captains of ships that were heading to the port of Callao, hence the reason why it is often referred to as the Faro Temple or Temple of the Lighthouse.
