Second time I stayed here and would always stay here every visit to Huaraz. Zarela is amazing, communicative and really kind. I always felt safe and comfortable staying there. The rooms are super clean, the food is good and she set out food for us on the days where we had to wake up early for a hike. The eating area was a fun place to chat with others who are also staying there. We booked a late night bus back to Lima so on the day we checked out, we were able to store our bags there so we could go out for the day and come back to pick it up. Zarela is really amazing and I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

La Casa de Zarela was the perfect place to stay in Huaraz. Zarela, the owner, is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about Huaraz and its surroundings, and always ready to provide helpful tips. The breakfast and Thai food she serves are both great. A nice extra: they provide a laundry service using cold wash and air drying, perfect for sensitive woolen outdoor gear. We stayed here to acclimatize to the altitude and could conveniently leave our luggage while we did the Santa Cruz trail, and come back for one last night. I highly recommend staying here during your trip to Huaraz.

Zarela's is the best hostel in Huaraz by far. Best quality of service, excellent breakfast, clean rooms, great information about local hiking/climbing access. Definitely will go back

Zarrela was the nicest person we have met in Peru.
She is happy to share information on Huaraz and all the different treks around.
We stayed for a total of 7 nights and would 100% reccomend.
She is also fluent in English which is really rare in Huaraz.
We also really enjoyed the food in the restaurant

We had a lovely stay at Zarela' casa, everything is nice and the Thai food was absolutely delicious! Pretty much like the meals I had in Thailand but we were in Peru! She arranged us tours and very flexible with our demands!

We only are here to eat - we stayed at a different hostel.

The food is really fantastic and Zarela is lovely, as others have said. She is very friendly and has a great sense of humour. She also helped us with tips for our next hike. It's a shame we're leaving Huaraz today, otherwise we would probably have come back! Highly recommended.

Truly so delicious. Our favorite Thai we’ve had in Peru. We went twice and tried the green, yellow, and red curry. Each was packed with flavor, veggies, and had the option to be vegan. Highly recommend the ginger tea as well. The owner is very kind and helped us navigate some local travel logistics as well. Must try in Huaraz.

Zarela is a lovely host and makes you feel at home the moment you walk through the door. I comfortably stayed 3 nights in a 6 bed dorm. Laundry service on point! I had the Pad Thai and red curry - both were beyond expectations!! Her produce is coming from a local organic garden. Would highly recommend staying here. Breakfast on all accounts was delicious with real French press coffee.

Zarela is a delight. From helping set up expedition logistics, to the incredible Thai food, and just being a kind and humorous soul, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. A must if you are a climber.

One of the best hostels since a few months of travelling. With 35 Soles in a dorm a bit pricier than other hostels in Huaraz but definitely worth the money. Most friendly and helpful staff, good continental breakfast included and beautiful terrace areas to relax and enjoy the great views. Comfy beds and very quiet in the mornings as the hostel is a few minutes walk from down town. We had green curry in their restaurant, which was amazing! Wifi works well most of the time. The kitchen could be a bit better equipped though. We would come back for sure!

Zarela was always around to answer questions and to set up our climbing trips with transportation and logistics. She is a climber herself so she knows all about the Cordillera Blanca and beyond to offer advice and insight. She also always had advice on places to eat, what to see and do, and how to do it. We always had a room to come back to amidst our random days of climbing. It felt like home. She made it really easy in a foreign country to figure everything out. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Zarella is an excellent place to stay. I have been here several times and loved it every time. Good location, large clean rooms, it is on a quiet street. They have a nice kitchen up stairs. It also has a nice lounge. The views of huaraz from the balcony are spectacular. The staff here is very friendly and very helpful. Will stay here again!

I have stayed here for two nights after I came back from the 4 days/3 nights Santa Cruz Trek. I have made the booking one hour earlier and the owner showed me the double room I booked for myself (including private bathroom). The rooms were clean and the shower worked well with hot water.

So far nothing outstanding, but what makes this place special is the owner. When I was about to check out, I asked what would be the best way to get from Lima to Cusco. Straight away she started her laptop and showed me that there are flights which are only slighty more expensive than the bus (1h flight, 22h bus ride). When I made the booking something did not work out, so she took her phone and told the guys from Peruvian Airlines to fix this (which they did straight away).

Minutes later I left because I needed to catch my bus to Lima (I was in a hurry actually). When I was on the bus already, I was told to get off. Obviously I was wondering why, but outside the owner of this place was waiting with my second wallet (2. credit card, ID, ...). I left it on the room and didn't realise it.

If the bus wouldn't have departed, I would still be standing there saying thank you.

The coffee is great.
