One of the best experiences of my life. As a life long seal lover I could not pass up the opportunity to swim with sea lions. It was simply AMAZING. To see the animals up close, to smell them, to feel them touch you… what was the most important to me however is that the trip was 100% ethical. As we waited for the excursion to start, a lady from the national wildlife protection team came up to us and explained the rules. During the trip no guide tried to break them. No one artificially feeds the seals or ushers them closer. You do not have to worry about that aspect, if that is on your mind. Aside from that, the excursion was very well prepared. We saw different species of birds including penguins. The guides were funny and informative. It was no doubt one of the most meaningful moments of my life.

AN AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE! You get to see so many sea lions and penguins, who are all so adorable. The crew and tour guides are very knowledgeable and respectful of the animals. Do this trip!

One of the best experiences of my life. Very well organized and coordinated tour. I was struggling to book on their website so they allowed me to reserve two spots via WhatsApp and pay when I got to the meeting point. Communication and Instructions before the tour were very clear so it was very easy to find everything . When got to the meeting point (no hotel pick up), they were super friendly and spoke fluent English . They also sold waterproof phone cases which were very useful l when jumping into the water. Our guide Ishmael was very kind and friendly and fluent in English and Spanish. He gave us a lot of info while we were on the way to the sea lions and checked in on us occasionally)to see that no one is sick). We saw birds, penguins , sea lions and jelly fish along the day (there were no jelly fish in the area of swimming with the sea lions). They provided us wetsuit and safe vest and we were able to jump into the water. We got the chance to swim with the sea lions for 22 minutes which I thought was enough (take in mind that the water is not warm and you need to keep your self moving the entire time). The sea lions were curious and somewhat friendly . They came close to check us but not too close . No one was attacked or hurt during the trip. The way back was little bit hard for me as I experienced sea sickness. They also provided us a bag with water and snacks on the way back which was unexpected and very appreciated. Once in a lifetime activity. If you are lima , you should defiantly go and swim with the sea lions and use Mar Adentro excursions.

Great little excursion in LIma Peru - total time - about 2.5 hours by boat -a small boat takes you out to a larger boat that can handle the waves better. Then a nice tour out past some islands, each with a story -one was a old prison similar to Alcatraz and another island had there Presidents summer vacation home. Also some fisheries, and very small fishing boats. I saw quite a number of various wildlife (Penguins, etc). Finally we reached the Sea Lions -and you put wetsuits, and a different life jacket (not mandatory to swim) and then follow the guide into the water with some instructions. It is very noisy as the lions are always squawking and playing with each. I've attached some pics and a short video of the experience. They had both english and spanish guides on my tour. Most in the boat spoke english. One thing is if you have an affinity to get seasick easily you might want to pass or take Gravel before hand. There were 20 people on the boat -one lady was sick whole time -they gave her a bag (but she still jumped into the water with the sea lions! -she wouldn't miss it ---don't stare at your phone but the horizon while underway).

Excellent excursion to the "Guano Islands" where we saw Humboldt penguins and swam with HUNDREDS of sea lions. Well worth doing if in Lima. Don't forget your sun block though because even though it's cloudy ALL THE TIME in the Humboldt current, the sun is still fierce at this latitude.

We did the boat tour with a swim stop at the Palomino Islands to see the penguins and sealions. It was really well organised. We were so glad we booked it. We saw wild penguins and loads of sea lions! Some of us chose to get in the sea - it was a little cold initially but being from the UK we ended up finding it fairly warm (others thought differently). The sea was quite difficult to swim in (I am a very strong swimmer and still felt the struggle) so be mindful of that as other passengers realised this and ended up back on the boat. The swim stop is definitely not for weak swimmers - even with the life jacket on there we’re big waves. We had 2 sealions come within a few meters of us. Not that many were in the sea so we were over the moon with that. The snack & drink afterwards was also much appreciated. We were met at our taxi upon arrival and gathered into the cafe/restaurant called El Nakary. We got back about 1pm and used the toilets on-site at the port to get changed - there was a shower available too (all free). We couldn’t recommend this trip enough and really enjoyed it all.

Well I'm speechless about the experience I've had!
I've faced my fear of swimming in the Pacific Ocean, and it was also the first time I could get closer to sea lions and penguins, they are really adorable animals!
The whole tour was unique, it's super worth it!!!

This was an amazingly fun and very well run tour. If you do inly one excursion in Lima, we would highly recommend this one.

Our head guide, Rodrigo, was very knowledgeable about the history of the islands, the habits of the wildlife (penguins, sea lions and other birds), and also the geography of these really interesting “sand” formations.

The captain of the boat and the whole team had a strong focus on safety, which made the excursion very enjoyable and comfortable for everyone, young or old. They had refreshments at their office as we assembled, and also in the ride back from the island.

Thanks guys!!

Great tour. Wonderful learning. Had help resolving issues with transportation from office Go see the sea lions. Guilders are very fluent in English and Spanish with minimal accent. You will never forget this tour swimming with sea lions. Guides went out of their way to help my son in water. All excellent.

Their tour to swim with the sea lions at Palomino islands was so much fun. They take you out on a boat and you get to see the many birds, penguins and sea lions close up on the way to the sea lions. Swimming with the sea lions is amazing, they are so friendly and curious and come up to nibble your feet gently. Our guide, captain, and assistant guide took really great care of us and were hilarious. We had pickup and drop off arranged at our hotel in Miraflores and everything went smoothly. I highly recommend the experience.

Great tour with knowledgeable guide. There was even a curtain to change behind after the swim. Meeting point was located wrong by Google maps and is in front of La Terraza (El Nakary) restaurant.

Very nice tour. We weren't sure what to expect from swimming with the sea lions but it was great. They kept swimming up to us, bumping our feet and playing around. We also saw penguins and alot of birds. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Exceeded my expectations. About an hour ride out, se penguins, birds, sea lions, and then get in to swim with them.

I don't recommend taking kids under the age of 10 if you have the option. The boat was a bit rough on the way out, and I wouldn't trust the sea lions with kids in the water. We didn't have a problem, but I think they would be scared and there are currents and the sea lions could easily pull one under.

The ride back was much smoother than going out. They offered water, juice, and chips, on the way back. We went in January and had good luck with lots of sea lions and animals to see.

Although they are not one of the cheaper tours, our experience with Mar Adentro was very enjoyable. The staff is extremely professional and were very accommodating of our seasick children. If your not going to jump into the ocean to swim with the sealions it may not be worth it. Otherwise I highly recommend this business. Our guide Renan spoke fluent English and was very helpful.

This was my favorite tour we booked while in Peru. The tour guides gave thorough explanation of the Palomino islands in English and Spanish and answered every question that was asked. The birds, history of the islands, Humboldt penguins, and sea lions were all seen/included in the tour. I’m not gonna lie, I did shed a tear or two when 2 sea lions came up to me and floated belly up so I could pet them and one even kissed my hand. The guides made sure that we got as close as we wanted to the sea lions to get our money’s worth for the tour without being in danger of the alpha males. The captain, Fernando, took videos and pictures that were sent to us via What’sApp and we got a snack on the way back to the dock. DO THIS TOUR IF YOU HAVE THE TIME IN LIMA!!
