The plaza is very small but nicely shaded and surrounded by building from the early 1900s when Yurimaguas was a rich place from the rubber boom ("black gold"). In the 1800s this was the endpoint of the old Moyobamba Route, as the trade route that ran across the sierra and jungle from Trujillo was known. From Yurimaguas everything went by boat down the Amazon. A lot of interesting people came through here at that time, including Lt. Henry Lister Maw, Royal Navy, who in 1828 was the first Englishman to go down the Amazon, and the first non-Spanish/Peruvian to travel the Moyobamba Route.

¡¡¡Yurimaguas está celebrando la fiesta patronal Virgen De Las Nives del 05 al 15 de Agosto semana XXIX semana turística !!!🥳🥳🥳
La decoración de la iglesia está una lindura con iluminación incluida hay también sección de artesanía y gatronomía, hay locales donde se puede ir a beber unos tragos y pasar tiempo con la familia y en toda la ciudad hay orquesta que estaran tocando todas estas fechas en los diferentes barrios.😉

Bonito lugar, silencioso y tranquilo para descansar o pasar un rato con la gente del lugar. Éste año está celebrando su centenario como centro de esperanza para los Yurimaguinos y para quienes visitan éste hermoso rincón de la selva peruana.
