Awesome internet (50 down, 30 up) and hot shower with good pressure, both working great even on the highest 3rd floor! These things matter the most for me, in other areas I just wouldn't expect more from a budget hotel in a small town (hard pillow, no heating at night, warm but heavy blankets, little surface to put things on in the room, breakfast was an instant coffee with juice bun jam and butter). The towel you are told not to bring to the hot springs, and you don't have to, can rent one at the hot springs for 5 Soles. Came as part of the Peru Hop tour.

New hostal, smelled of fresh paint. Went here with Perú Hop tour, was the default place to stay for the group. Biggest challenge was that there is no heating at all, as is typical in rural Perú, so during this July stay the room was around 5°C for the night. Hot showers but poorly ventilated bathrooms, Lilliputian rooms.
