National Car Rental

I was told about car rentals in Panama (insurance and all that). I went in 2015 and my Mom rented a car at Enrique Malek and she had to pay insurance to the max. Once I booked my flights to David, I began contacting several rental agencies at the airport. I was replied by National right away with a great quote. I then called them directly and made sure all insurance was included and I would not be faced with "suprise" charges/insurance at the counter...I was assured I would not be. I resered a Hyundai Creta, and then after speaking to the agency (the week before my flight) I was recommended into a bigger model (Kia Sportage..glad I did).

Once I got to the airport, the check in procedure for the car was easy. I had to show them ID, credit card and that was it. My cousin (a local resident of David) was added as the 2nd driver (5.00/day charge...also worth it).

I was very observant of any damage to the car I could find (this is a must in Panama and other Central America countries).

On my way to my hotel I noticed the dash showning me one of the fog lights was out. I called them the next morning and they advised me they would have another car ready for me at the aiport (only location in the city). I made my way down there (8 mins) and exchanged it for another Sportage...because of my troubles they withdrew the additional driver charge.

The car was a great choice. I will be renting a 4x4 next time I go during the rainy season as some of the road I wanted to take were muddier and the Sportage wouldn't have made it.

When I return to David I will be renting from National at Enrique Malek.

Always good service and great vehicles for rent, and at better prices than others rental car companies in Panama.

Decepción total con respecto a la experiencia que he tenido con su empresa de arrendamiento de autos. Cuando hice la reserva, esperaba una comunicación clara y detallada sobre los términos y condiciones del alquiler. Sin embargo, al llegar al lugar designado, me encontré con la desagradable sorpresa de que no se podía completar la reserva y se me indicó que buscara otra arrendadora.

Lo que más me preocupa es la falta de comunicación por parte de su equipo. Recibí un contacto apenas un día antes de mi llegada, lo cual no me dio tiempo suficiente para hacer arreglos alternativos. Además, nunca recibí una respuesta a mi correo electrónico, lo que añade más frustración a esta situación.

Worst National Car Rental I’ve ever been too, they decided to deny me a car only because my immigration stamp was faded/not stamped properly, and stated that anyone could falsify a stamp on a passport. If you have a faded stamp I would recommend to go elsewhere. Felt I was discriminated.

Do not rent from National Rental Car, they will rip you off. I was charged for insurance that I never asked for or was asked to accept.

Terrible. Their liars. They rent a Prado and give you a fortunner. Make all kinds of excuses when you get to office. Never ever rent there again.
