Chorro El Nanzal

A relatively short drive north from the main Pan-American highway. Navigation took us here and the road was mostly paved until the final couple of miles. An SUV is recommended and the road does narrow in the final stretch. Do not go right when you see the first sign directing you to the falls. That road was for all-terrain vehicles or walking only, in my mind. Head a bit further up the road and there will be a dirt/grass parking lot where you will pay the owner of this private land for parking and entrance to the falls. I think it was like 4.00 total. And once we paid, she sat and watched our locked car while we hiked in and swam.
We were the only ones there on this beautiful April day which also happened to be a Monday. It was perfect.
The hike in is also easy and beautiful.
The water was refreshing and peaceful.
I wore water shoes which was helpful on the slippery rocks and my friend wished she had a pair too.
Always disappointing to see litter in natural places like this. We saw lots of bottle caps from beer cans and food wrappers around the rocks at the falls. I wish people would understand why throwing their trash improperly is not just ugly but it is dangerous to the animals and ultimately the environment.

Nice spot, great swimming hole,water falls and Volcanic rock in the jungle.
Maybe a ten minute walk from parking lot ( $3.00 per vehicle charge) unless you want a longer walk a truxk or suv recommended
Great for a picnic or afternoon outing.. i will be back.
