Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra Park

A pleasant surprise that a park in the middle of the city would have free-roaming iguanas as an attraction. Interesting how easy it was to lure them from the trees with some bread. They are used to being so close to people that I was able to get within touching distance. Saw a total of about eight of them under two adjacent trees. There are also supposed to be squirrels but I did not see any.

This park is considered the heart of the capital. It attracts your attention because it is right in the center of a busy commercial area with all types of stores. You can't help but go inside for a view. It falls under the category of town square park and not urban park, national park or state park.

This park has the most seating available than any park I have ever been to. That is because it underwent a renovation in 2006 that gave it the seating capacity of seven hundred seats. In case you did not know, the name of the park is dedicated to the author of the classic novel, Don Quijote de la Mancha.

Love love love the iguanas that reside there. My first time to see them so close and even touch a couple. I'd return just for them! Also the park is surrounded by so many shops with goods and food. The park has plenty of shaded areas to sit. The center fountain is stunning.

This park is a redeeming part of David. Great spot to see iguanas and eat an ice cream or snack from a shop or stand nearby. Perfect spot for a nice date. It is a beautiful park that takes you out of the city while your there smack in the middle of it. It was difficult not to smile when I saw all the iguanas in the trees.

Plenty of seats available everywhere, Lots of shade, safe and the Iguanas are entertaining.

Nice park to relax in center of David. Very reasonable hotel prices. Variety of restaurants, shopping, banks, clinic and pharmacies and not to far from bus terminal.. The iguanas are big that wander park but harmless. A different dimension for entertainment!

The gardens are neat and lots of space to sit down in the shade under the trees. Love the iguanas!

Safe, pleasant, center of old city with shopping and restaurants all around. Families are here well after dark. No alcohol allowed in public in Panama :( . Does not detract from shady benches in secluded alcoves. Excellent spot to sit and watch the world go by.
