Manthali is a municipality and the headquarters of Ramechhap District in Bagmati Pradesh, Nepal that was established on 2 December 2014 by merging the former village development committees Old-Manthali, Bhatauli, Chisapani, Kathjor, Bhaluwajor, Salupati and Sunarpani. It was declared the headquarters of the district on 9 March 1989 (26 Falgun 2045 BS).[citation needed] It lies on the bank of the Tamakoshi River. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 45,416 people living in 10,099 individual households.[2]

Manthali had nine wards previously when it was still a VDC (Village Development Committee). While declaring it a municipality there had been a problem due to a neighbouring VDC Ramechhap which had also been included in the municipality to force the municipality's name into Ramechhap. This problem has been solved as Ramechhap was declared a separate municipality and Manthali a separate one.Education facility of this municipality is well developed. In 2065 BS, Rajesh Prasai of Little Star English School secured the position of district topper in SLC. In 2011 Pramod Mahat and Divya Bhatta of Tamakoshi English Boarding School of this municipality were able to secure the position of district topper in the SLC examination. In 2012 Kusum Karki was zonal topper. In 2013 Suman Subedi was district topper. In 2014 Amrit Majhi was the district topper. Later in 2015 Arun Shrestha secured highest mark in the district from Karkaladevi English Boarding School who created the history of scoring 100 out of 100 in mathematics subject, the first one to do so in the history of Ramechhap district. The popular schools of this area are Tamakoshi English Boarding School, Little Star English School, Karkala Devi English School, Manthali Secondary School and Manthali Sahid Smirti Bahumukhi Campus.
There is a primary health centre as the greatest governmental health institute of this municipality. There are many healthposts and sub-healthposts. Among the private ones Tamakoshi Sewa Samiti and Manthali Samudaik Hospital are the most popular ones. There are many other private clinics.

मन्थली नगरपालिका तत्कालिन ७ वटा गाउँ विकास समितिहरु ( मन्थली,कठजोर, सालु, सुनारपानी, भलुवाजोर, भटौली र चिसापानी) लाई समायोजन गरेर १६वटा वडा रहने गरी २०७१ मसिर १६ गते घोषणागरियो । नेपालको सविधान वमोजिम राज्यको पुन: सरचना हुने क्रममा नेपाल सरकारले २०७३ साल फाल्गुण २७ गतेवाट लागु हुने गरी तत्कालिन नगरपालिकाका वडा सहित क्रमश: पुरानागाँउ, चनखु, गेलु र फुलासी गाँउ विकास समितिलाई समेत समावेश गरी १४ वटा वडा भएको नगरपालिकाको रुपमा स्थापित भएको छ । यस नगरपालिकाको क्षेत्रफल २११.७७ वर्ग किलोमिटर छ । जसमध्ये कृर्षि भू उपयोगका दृष्टिले ७३३६ हेक्टर जमिन रहेको छ जसमा संचित जमिन १३५६ हेक्टर र असंचित जमिन ४५१३ हेक्टर रहेको छ ।
यस नगरपालिकाको औषत तापक्रम २० देखि २५ डिग्री सेल्सियस रहेको छ । गर्मी याममा अधिकतम ३२ डिग्री सेल्सियस र न्यूनतम २ डिग्री सेल्सियस रहने गर्दछ । यस नगरपालिकामा कम उचाइ भएका सुनकोशी नदी, तामाकोशी नदी, भटौली र रणजोर खोला आसपासका वस्तीहरुमा उष्ण मौसमी हावापानी र यसका अलवा नगरपालिकाका अधिकांश भू भागमा न्यानो समशीतोष्ण हावापानी पाइन्छ ।

One of the worst services I have seen in government offices such an unprofessional staff tmi haru ko printer kam garena computer kam garena is that our problem hami valley dekhi baerw bata gako manxe ko kam hunuparena since we call before one day if there is any public holiday or any officer on vacation. this is the problem of all time when I went there before 10 years one officer was on leave so we went to his home for 1 signed his name was something, Jha. Do these people even value others' time usko printer bigreko xa re rather than fixing it or calling the maintenance team they left home before their work off time? The office was supposed to close by 5 but then their printer was not working and they left home by 3 wow .its a government office there should be always a solution but they loved to make people suffer same on you 😡🤬
