マカルバルン国立公園の玄関口で、レンジャーも滞在しています。
11年前に大学院の調査登山で訪問。
谷を挟んだ手前のNum(ヌム)から、谷底の吊り橋を渡っての再びの登りはとんでもなくキツかった…
ここは文化的に食事にお肉がふんだんに食べれる場所でもあります。マカルーアタックの前にここで英気を養えるでしょう。
私が訪問した時はここの街で歩荷を1人雇って行きました。まだ当時の青年は元気だろうか。
調査登山成功のお祝いに、下山時に再度ここに滞在して歩荷さんの家でヤギをまるまる1頭ご馳走になりました。
調査中はここでチキンを食べてから2週間近く穀物と野菜しか摂らなかったうえに1日2食だったので、このヤギがめちゃめちゃ美味かった…
それまでの人生で1番美味しくて『生きてる、命を食べてる』を実感した初めての食事。以来、11年経ちましたがこの時を超える美味しいに出会ったことがないです。
