Simara Airport

On to way to India Nepal Border, for fast movement from Kathmandu to India you will reach here and if vice versa also. Just 28 km from Raxaul and you will get taxi and other accommodation to reach here . Clean and small airport for domestic flights. Very good to see superb landing and small airbuses. You have to come here for any connection to Nepal.

Everything is good. But I do have one suggestion for all those who book their flights in the winters, don't book it from Simara, rather book your flights from Bharatpur, specially those who live around Hetauda, it's rather more convenient.

Very good and fast service..people are helpfull and not much checking to do....the coffee shop is very nice ..clean and good toilets...

The airport was established on 4 July 1958, although there is evidence that the airport existed in some form as early as 1946 and would therefore be the oldest airport in Nepal — this fact is, however, disputed.The airport is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.

Well maintained domestic airport in nepal. Staffs are helpful, toilets are clean. Wifi here is free provided by worldlink. For now here only buddha airlines carry the passengers but shree airlines is also going to add its service...

You fly on time than other airport

Small but clean airport. The road outside the airport is not in good condition which is a bad news. But over all it's okay.

I am frquent travellor of this airport. Its in the centre of Simara town, 5 minutes from highway. Its half an hour frive from Birgunj and 45 minutes from Hetauda. There are a number of good hotels nearby with better accommodation and food. The weather is always a problem here.

Simara Airport (सिमरा विमानस्थलण) is situated at Jitpur Simara Sub Municipality of Bara District, Province No. 2. It is the most strategic domestic airport of the Country for two reasons. One, it is the nearest airport only 39 miles far from Kathmandu; Raxaul, an Indian city is only 20 kilometers away from the airport. Furthermore, the importance of this airport is due to its location near to Birgunj which is a commercial and industrial town linking Raxaul as well. And secondly, this airport can be purposefully used in case of natural calamities and disasters when ground transport is not accessible. This airport lies in the path of international flight operation.
