A lot of care went into curating not only information about the power of the water and the importance or the dikes, but creating a nice memorial that not only honors those who died in 1954 but preserves their stories.

There was a lot of video catalogs of interviews of those that were affected as well as footage of when it happened.

Each of the Caissons showcases are unique and offers something for everyone. Movies, stories, artistic interpretations, and modern games. A great visit!

The museum is very good with alot of stores to tell. It mainly discusses the great flood in Zeeland, and the recovery after this catastrophe. It contains 4 cassions first for the disaster, second for describing people's emotions and the third for the recovery plan. Finally, the last one for the future plans. I highly recommend taking a tour guide with audio.

Fascinating museum situated inside caissons originally build for D-Day Mulberry Harbours and used during flood disaster in 1950s.
The adjoining restaurant was excellent too.

Flood Museum and Delta Works tell the story of the tragic and historic 1952 flood at Middleburg, Netherlands, that started the vignette on a new and energized program of flood control (extensive, higher dikes, & adjustable tide gaates) Devastating and heroic. Visible are wind turbines

From outside looks like a small museum, even after entering it looks like a small one. Then further you walk more new rooms you will discover at the end most probbaly you will be suprised just like I was how big the place is. They have a lot of materials collected from the big flood lot of videos and news papers and objects from that time. It was also nice to see that it was not only abou the flood itself but also showed that time how people lived what did they used, I loved that they even set up a house built in that era.
They have some more and some not so interesting interactive "games" in the last room, definitelly it was refresing.
Since I do not speak the language unfortu atelly I could not enjoy everything 100%. Some videos were not even subtitled also some older information table was not in english. But I could see that all new room has translated tables and all information are there in english and german too.
So overall I loved it. It was informative, also interactive and also eye opening. So recommended! :)
(I havent seen any tables that pictures can not be made but if thats the case please let me know I will remove them)

Very interesting museum, with an engaging exhibition. It is fascinating to see the historic setting. Everything is available in English. It is very much a memorial museum, and so I would have liked a little bit more information about the hydraulic engineering.

My birth year was a big flood in the 🇳🇱 Netherlands. The impact was huge but they went to work and fixed it. My guess the next one will be much worse. Limited apparent ability to think through the situation they are creating and the danger.

I often go to museums but this one managed to surprise me in a very good way. It tells the story of the North Sea flood of 1954 in a very aesthetic way making it very impressive. I did not know much about this disaster but learned a lot from the museum visit. Adding personal stories from various people made me identify strongly with the victims. This is true cultural heritage of the Netherlands. One of my top 10 museums in the Netherlands.

Very interesting museum about the flood in the 1950s and the impact it had. Well done. Nice excursion with older kids 8+
Next to visiting the museum, there are also some hiking routes ( smallest one is around 2.5 km).

Very interesting. All about the 1953 floods in the Netherlands when the Dyke was breeched by a severe storm. Then about blocking the breech with large concrete casons delivered from Great Britain in September of the same year.

If you are interested in the subject of this museum - which is not a pleasant one - this is a must-go. It is one of the best museums I have been to. Highly recommended. Thank you so much for having us, including our dog who was supposed to sit in a pram but wasn’t having it and was allowed to come in anyway.

A disaster is never nice or cool, but the museum about it is. Great location, "building" and design.

This is a very well done museum about the 1953 flood. The staff is friendly and attentive. There are special activities for kids, who will not be bored. The interactive tools used in some of the exhibitions are really nice and well integrated with the subject matter.

The fact that the museum is housed in the very 'caissons' used to fill the last breach in the dikes, back in 1953, makes it all the more impressive.
