Winterswijk Market

Anyone who thinks Winterswijk is a sleepy border village has not seen the droves of couples, families and dogs that arrive in masses every Wednesday and Saturday for the large Central Market by the beautiful old Church. Visitors pour in from Germany for the fresh fish (kibbeling) cheese, bread and fresh flower sellers. There is also a great fabric and clothes stalls and others. The Galaterias are good in summer, and endless cafés serve superb cakes and coffees al fresco... unless it is freezing!!
UPDATE: today's treat was 2 Ice Cream Sundaes from Gelateria Talamini - one Black Forest the other Blueberry!! All enjoyed literally in the shadow of the church spire!
UPDATE: Kings Day in Winterswijk and a HUGE fairground teaming with people and a live band in a tent!

Came here with relatives a few years back when visiting Germany and had a lovely time so came back. Wednesday Market is worth the drive. People are very friendly. So much on offer in the market. Highly recommended.

A great place to visit

What a great little place to spend a day out. City is full of activities, like shopping, eating and drinking in terraces, enjoying of life music and there more. From coffeeshops to churchs and hema to barret there are a lot to do in this place. Well connected with the camping areas, Winterswijk has an exquisite way of doing shopping.
Do not forget to pay your parking place, even taht there are a lot free parking areas in common to find an easy place near by the city center that requires a fee.

Nice place , good location, tasty fish

That is very nice please for such a small town and is close to the board between Germany and the Netherlands. If you're here it is worth to visit.

If you want to get fresh food and spend your time with family its a good place. If you get hungry you can find a lot fresh street food too. Fish and seafood amazing! You should try it!

First time here and it was wonderful. Not overwhelmingly big and the variety of vendors was perfect.

Great place

I love this market around the church and centre of Winterswijk. You can buy a lot, specially food.
The market is twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Best street market in the region. Large assortment of cheese, fish, fruits or vegetables.
