Spent a lovely afternoon here with my 8yo and 10yo. Quite a varied lot of exhibits, plenty that's interactive and a lot in English too. We used Google translate for things that weren't and got a good understanding of the local history.

We particularly enjoyed the mock-peat bog and the bells!

Stopped for coffee and cake at the cafe.

Worth mentioning that we got given a "passport" at the front desk that entitled the children for a free drink and toy.

Staff at the front desk very friendly and helpful.

Had a wander round the garden afterwards and checked out an art exhibition being held there by a local school.

Love coming here once in while. Mostly interesting and always refreshing contents. With plenty of things to do for all ages inside as well as outside you won't get bored easily, whenever you feel like taking a break there is a canteen where you can order some food and drinks. In short: if you are close by then this museum is a must see. I guarantee you it will be well worth your time.

Never realised how amazing bells and the history that goes with them can be! Such a child friendly environment. And a great time to experience so much about bells right down to the manufacturing of them.

What a nice museum, this really surprised me. Beautiful surroundings , well maintained garden an at the inside actually 2 different kinds of museums. The “Klok” say church bell museum is stunning , so many examples, a good guided tour. The “Peel” museum is about the history of the region where you are. A must see

I was pleasantly surprised by this museum! One of the highlights was a demonstration by a knowledgeable museum worker who showed us how the bell works, which was absolutely amazing to see. It was a real treat to get such a detailed and engaging explanation of this intricate piece of machinery.

It was very cool. Bells, clockwork, history of De Peel; all of it can be found here. I thought at first that it would have been a small place and that it wouldn't take more than an hour or two to see it all, but it took me the whole day instead! And I had to skip the parts in Dutch(which are few) as well as some documentaries being presented. It has free toilet access, a cafe(which is honestly mandatory after having to spend so much time here) and a shop. I definitely recommend listening to the audio tour there. Don't forget your smartphones when visiting though, as the audio tour and some information on the Klok part are only available via scanning QR codes.

Real gem of a museum, far bigger and richer than you would expect in such a small town. I went there with my daughter of 15 and there she could get a good insight in technology in a playful manner using clocks as a guidance. Also has nice display of lot's of local animals which can be seen and shows in interesting displays the history of the Peel. We loved it and since we had the whole museum to ourselves the suppoost explained us everything interesting detail on the clock making history of Asten!. Great place to go to.

A great museum for kids and adults about big bells and their history, if that is your area of interest.

A lot of the bells are available to be rung by yourself. And their are also a lot of instruments available.

They also have a nice little section about the unique history of the surrounding countryside, a very nice garden to walk around in and an excellent restaurant to enjoy.

A special mention to the great volunteers who work as guides in this museum, they take pride and joy to teach you and your kids about the museum pieces.

Wonderful exhibition of the history and tradition of bells, for over 2000 years, accross the world. Even clay and wood bells! Includes working historical striking clocks, and carrillons (keyboard operated bells). Worth a visit on everyone's trip.

Always great to visit. There are 2 main sections; nature and clocks. However, there are temporary exhibitions more often as well e.g. WWII or about the founder. The nature part shows insects, birds and little animals that life in the nature reservation De Peel. The clock area shows a great selection of clocks from around the world. In Asten is (of course) royal Eijsbouts, the world famous bell foundry. The museum is tidy and also offers wandering through the herb garden. Occasionally, there are events, such as with autumn/Halloween, lot's of pumpkins and activities.
