Hortus Overzee Den Helder

We've visited many gardens and considering the location of this Garden in the center of the city Den Helder we got there without too much expectations. We couldn't have been more wrong! Very interesting and well kept Gardens. The greenhouses and Japanese garden in particular were highlights for us but there's something there for everyone to enjoy.. even poems!

This small botanical garden in the middle of a residential neighborhood is a haven of tranquility, perfect for a leisurely Sunday stroll. It contains a succulents greenhouse, a palmtree greenhouse, a butterfly nursery and a surprisingly large Japanese inspired garden. During the summer season you can get coffee and small snacks on both inside and outside terraces.

Beautiful flowers, cactussen and plants. And the butterflies were huge and beautiful! Thanks for a wonderful experience.

I've been here twice now, and it's for-sure a really nice place! Even though it's a bit small, it's packed with so many interesting plants that you can easily spend hours looking at them all. The butterfly house is always fun, too. 🥰

One of the loveliest places in Den Helder! Quiet, green, and welcoming! Beside the large number of plant species, you can see butterflies, fish, turtles, birds, and probably many others. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Worth more than a visit!

It was awesome, there are many beautiful flowers and a nice garden. Stuff was friendly and there were a lot of different animals like turtles, kois and butterflies
And the entrance fee is with 5€ pP very nice

Lovely oasis of green in the concrete jungle. A calming garden with a pond and greenhouses with plants, birds and butterflies. Worth every penny.

Greenmachine!

Ein wundervoller und liebevoll gestalteter kleiner Ort, der uns sehr gefallen hat. Sehr vielfältig und mit Liebe zum Detail. Kakteen, ein japanischer Garten, ein Schmetterlingshaus, Teiche, Schildkröten, Fische, Kunstobjekte und vieles mehr gibt es hier zu entdecken. Die Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr freundlich. Der Eintritt von 8 Euro für Erwachsene und 4 Euro für Kinder ist aus unserer Sicht mehr als gerechtfertigt gewesen.
Wir konnten auch eine Hochzeitsgesellschaft sehen. Zum Heiraten ein toller Ort.

Wat een Prachtige Botanische Tuin Hortus in Den Helder. Wij hebben genoten ondanks de regen waren er ook Zonnen stralen aan wezig Gelukkig.
Heel vriendelijke personeel leden die erg behulpzaam waren. Samen een kopje koffie gedronken die heerlijk smaakte. Voor herhaling zeker vatbaar.. ook een paar stekjes aangeschaft om thuis verder te laten groeien.
Nou tot gauw weer ziens in de Hortus Den Helder.
