De Abdij Van Dokkum

From the booking confirmation I had a feeling that I was going to like this hotel. These guys & girls have it right. Total customer satisfaction focus, thinking outside the box and anticipating your needs. Even before you arrive. Accommodation, blown away. Forget how clean was the room, that will never be an issue! Breakfast more than acceptable but definitely eat there in the evening. Not sure who is behind the menu and execution but intend to find out on my next visit. Sophisticated, doesn’t come close, has to be experienced. Every member of staff I encountered excelled, EVERY MEMBER.!!The Italian born Sommelier is so passionate about the hotel and “his” wines, you can trust his judgement without question.

Due to accident on the A7 Afsluitdijk me and my 7 year old son had to take a 2,5 hours detour to the ferry to Ameland and therefore we missed the last boat. We booked a night at ABDIJ in DOKKUM and we had the most generous and wonderful experience. The staff gave us a warm welcome, a beautful deluxe room, some toothbrushes and and kept the kitchen extra open for us. And the food was GREAT. I am traveling alot this was exceptionally good service and very clean. I totally recommend it. A pleasure. It turned a very exhausting day to a cozy and warm one.

We stayed in de Abdij as part of our mini-holiday to see this part of The Netherlands. It is a very nice new luxury hotel with a character. The rooms are comfortable and are furnished with great attention to detail and quality (you can see materials used are not cheap). The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating (I would say well above the average for this part of the world) and would go out of their way to provide solutions and think along. The location is also great (middle of town on the square with the frozen fountain) and the wifi is strong. There were toys in the room for the kids and their towels were folded as an elephant (see picture). I would certainly recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely time in Dokkum with as highlight our stay at the Abdij van Dokkum. A spacious and tasteful junior suite in a beautifully renovated mediaval orphanage in the center of Dokkum, excellent food and very friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff.

Beautifully renovated building. Hotel is run by very friendly, hospitable and authentic people. Dokkum is small but lively town and provides a great base for day trips. Well situated relative to the ferries to the Wadden Islands.

Qua-li-ty! The hotel manager was very kind and the room was exquisite 👌🏾. They have an amazing chef! I’m vegan and he made something just for us! It’s one of the best vegan dishes I had!

Great service and very well kept property! The quality of the rooms was superb. We stayed here to go on a Wadlopen trip nearby but would definitely come again just to stay at the hotel itself!

I can pretend that I did travel a lot already, but I have not been to any place before with such a charming and dedicated service. It all started with the check-inn to the hotel, where we have been greeted by Lisa who was very friendly, took us to our room and gave as a first introduction to the hotel and to the very nice and pleasant city of Dokkum. All of staff is very kind and polite without any exception. This goes for the receptionists, the servers in the restaurant as well as for the housekeeping team. Compliments to all of them!
We had booked a Junior Suite, a very nice room under the roof, with the only inconvenient for me since I'm quite tall, that I had to be careful not to bang my head against the wooden beams of the construction supporting the roof.
All of the facilities of the hotel are very clean and well maintained.
The restaurant of the hotel, "De Waard van Dokkum" offers excellent surprise menues, with a great choice of wines but also very good beer brewed by Chef Michael. The kitchen staff did pay intention to my wife's lactose intolerance for all the dishes we had. The same was the case at breakfast were you are served with their home-made bread and yoghurt.
In summary I can tell that we did feel very welcome and comfortable at this awesome hotel where we could enjoy the dutch hospitality which wouldn't be possible without all of the friendly, dedicated stuff.

Top hotel.

Wat een heerlijk hotel. Mensen met verstand gastvrijheid! Sfeervol ingericht. Subtiele muziek op de achtergrond (wat ik heel prettig vind). Het diner (verrassingsmenu) was onovertroffen! Wijn en spijs waren perfect (!) in balans. Met een extra 'shout out' naar het meisje wat ons bediende. Voorkomend. Verstand van zaken. Ons een rondleiding door de wijnkelder gegeven. En hele avond op een prettige manier om ons heen. Ben haar naam vergeten. Weet alleen dat ze uit het oosten van Europa komt. Hulde! Hulde!

Het regende wat buiten en we waren op zoek naar een plek om te lunchen. We zagen dit hotel mooie uitstraling van buiten. En zo zijn we naar binnen gelopen. We werden gastvrij ontvangen, de jassen werden in ontvangst genomen en we kwamen op rustige plek te zitten. We hebben hier heel goed geluncht. Stoof pannetje en een heerlijke salade. We komen zeker een keer terug maar dan wel wat langer(-;

Erg gastvrij ontvangen, veel oog voor details om je echt welkom te laten voelen. Prachtige kamers en een heerlijk bed, douche en ontbijt. Een aanrader!

Fantastisch genoten . Leuk stadje met andere winkels dan de ketens . Leuk personeel , super kamer en het eten is van ster niveau .
