One of the longest bridges in West Africa connecting the Lagos Mainland to parts of the Lagos Island. Easily the busiest bridge in Lagos and always a fun drive. With connectivity to the high brow area of Ikoyi and Lagos Island from the Mainland, The Third Mainland Bridge is very important to the commercial activities of Lagos. Several renovations have been done on the Bridge over the years so it is relatively safe. There are also Road Safety and Police presence on some parts of the Bridge to ensure safety and security of lives. It has a beautiful view of the Lagos Lagoon as you drive through.

Third Mainland Bridge is located in Lagos, Nigeria. This bridge is a navigation from Lagos Mainland to the Island.

Thousands of Lagos residents and visitors pass through this bridge every day.

There is always a very high level of Traffic and it is more now since the government are currently doing some maintenance on the other lane of the Bridge.

Funny enough, you can get almost anything inside Third Mainland bridge traffic from snacks to cold drinks even under the hot sun, to bathroom towels and many more.

I always look forward to this scenery everyday to work. Though there's always traffic in the morning from 7am till like 9 or 10am which gives me nightmares but I use the amazing view to comfort myself...I love the waterside and the cool atmosphere in the morning..

Many thanks to Senator David Umahi, our Horourable Minister of Works and to our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for an excellently renovation of this bridge. The road is smooth and even, excellently laned, and the solar lights are wonderful. I watched every video and read every article leading towards it's renovation I have nothing but respect and appreciation to our Minister and the President. Thank you Sirs.

Longest bridge of Lagos connecting mainland & islands of Lagos city. Thousands of vehicles commute everyday with lots of memories through this 11.8 Km Long Bridge. I probably crossed this bridge over thousands of times now and still crossing. Any repairing work on this leads to a chaotic traffic situation in Lagos city.

This is a one of the two major links between Lagos mainland and Lagos Island Nigeria. Even though the traffic can be sometime heart wrenching, yet it remained the most preferred route to link the Island from mainland and vice versa. It gives a beautiful view of the Lagos lagoon and this makes driving through it, a sight seeing adventure. From the iyana oworo end of it, driving, you'll be greeted with a large bill board showing how many kilometers you have to drive through the bridge and the estimated time, next is the newly constructed mini stadium and recreational center, next to it is the prestigious University of Lagos water front side, well decorated with trees, lawns and tared road probably leading to some of the Accademic staff quarters. Immidiately after it comes the three green, blue and orange hostel blocks for the students, this added it's own candour to the lagoon. Next is the make shift houses for the Ilaje community 'Egun' as we call them, this is closely followed by the plank market which extend across the Adekunle junction link bridge, to the ebutemeta end of the bridge. At this point you'll have a good view of the 2nd bridge (Carter bridge) linking the island from mainland, and this leads you to the Adeniji end (a good link into the Lagos market/jankara), then to a bridge that links to Carter brigde and the popular gorodom market, then the sura end (from where you'll climb to link dolphin Estate), then the Obalende end where you'll descend to the police barracks. Further on, the bridge that descends to Race course or onikan roundabout, then further the bridge that descends to link Victoria island, then further the bridge that descends the link to the popular CMS bus stop where the ancient CMS church is. Further on on the main bridge the descend to UBA House and car park and balogun end of Lagos market. And lastly on main bridge, you'll be linked back to Carter bridge and then on your way back to the mainland. Third mainland bridge is a fun route to drive, but be careful in the night as lots of robbery happen here, police post are on both two sides of Adekunle junction in case you need help and don't forget to always call our 112 Lagos emergency number for help in case of any form of emergency. Happy third mainland bridging.

Third mainland bridge is one of the bridges that connect Lagos mainland with Lagos island. It's about 12 kilometers starting from Iyana Oworo and ending around Adeniji bus stop. Such a strongest and busiest bridge in Lagos

The bridge is the most popular bridge, not just in Nigeria but across West Africa. Because this used to be the longest bridge in Africa, before the 6th October Bridge in Cairo Egypt. So now it is the second longest bridge in Africa.
This bridge was build by a retied Head of State Gen. Ibrahim Babangida in the 90s. This bridge is one of the three bridges connecting the Main land to the Island of Lagos. this bridge as at today is over 26years old.
Once in while a routine maintenance is cried out on the bridge to keep it strong and going. It also serves as a tourist sight, as most visitor who come to Lagos likes to get a glimpse of it...

There is usually traffic jam on this bridge during morning rush hour and in the evening when most working class people are returning home.

The Third Mainland Bridge has very high vehicular traffic on weekdays, as many residents commute to and from the Lagos Mainland to the Island which is the commercial hub of Lagos State. Residents in Ikeja, Agboyi-Ketu, Ikorodu, Isheri, Oworonshoki, Gbagada, Yaba, Maryland and Oshodi. The Third Mainland Bridge is an essential part of Lagos' daily commuting, and as such requires to be constantly renovated. It has also come to be a major Lagos icon, offering different views of Lagos - the Lagos Lagoon, the University of Lagos Waterfront and Makoko, a shanty town built on the Lagos Lagoon....

One of the landmarks of the Lagos city. Did you know if you're standing on the bridge it vibrates and has a rocking feel to it?

If you're in a particular place stranged and can't find your way to Island, Just search Third mainland Bridge from Google map, then continue using road signs from third mainland bridge to your destination.. It's more reliable and faster than typing directly your destination from mainland.

You don’t want to be caught up during the rush hours. Long traffic. Best time to drive is during off peak times when there’s no rush.

Third mainland bridge is the longest bridge in Nigeria to the best of my knowledge. The roads are smooth without any potholes.

The only problem it has is traffic gridlock on Monday mornings inwards the island

This underrated gateway to vast opportunities for the inhabitants of Lagos and beyond. The major capillary and artery that connects the Island and mainland regions of Lagos state

Here's the longest overwater bridge in western Africa. And the busiest bridge in Africa.

A great link between the mainland and the island, though some part of the surface is dilapidating and wearing off. It's always a good feeling driving over it

The bridge that link the main land and the Island of Lagos State Nigeria. Is very strong, a bit long. Know for traffic, sometimes you can spend hours on the bridge if the traffic is very thick.
I enjoyed the view of the structures in both side of the bridge whenever I am on transit.
