The Smiths

In Lagos island, Smiths was mentioned as one of the best restaurants in town, therefore I had to visit.
Walked in on a Saturday night and it was packed, which showed it had a great following. The staff were helpful and polite. The food was the star of the show, each course was spectacular and delicious. The portions were generous and also the drinks were also very good.
My experience at the Smiths set the bar very high for any other Lagos restaurant to compete with.

My experience at The Smiths was a 7/10.
The waiters and staff members were warm and friendly.
The atmosphere was very nice. It was Reggae Tuesday so we were accompanied with lovely rendered Reggae tunes from two gentlemen artist.
The food was good although it took a while for the orders to be ready.

Arriving at The Smiths at 8 pm on a Tuesday evening, I was immediately offended by the waitstaff. I was left to stand for about a minute with my beautiful date in front of a largely empty restaurant… leaving me to remind the plentiful, thumb-twiddling waitstaff that I needed to be ushered to a table. “Do you have a reservation?” 🙄🙄 It’s such a pretentious question when there are just about 4 seated guests in the entire restaurant, talking about reservations, and yes, I do have a reservation. Not off to a great start… It’s an elegant space for sure, but it already reminds me of Taj, a space-constrained restaurant doing the most to squeeze in as many clientele... It’s not quite the same here, to be fair. The Smiths managed to keep their space grab reasonable.

It was a reggae night with a live band playing softly while sitting awkwardly in a tight corner. I wasn’t being impatient or too quick to judge the waitstaff; there’s clearly something amiss. My assigned waiter appears aware of protocol but not willing to participate in creating an experience for guests. The menu plays it safe with a collection of familiar Western favorites slapped with pricing that even Captain CBN would find offensive.

First impressions matter, but alas, 20 minutes in and I’ve not only managed to forgive but also forget all of the little quirks I whined about earlier. There’s no weightier metric to assess a restaurant by beyond the artistry of food and the quality/freshness of ingredients. The Smiths have earned their place right there in the uncommon category where only a handful compete… And yes, the pricing is entirely apt for what’s on offer. It’s an instant favourite!

Overall, the experience was satisfactory. Absolutely enjoyed the Sweet and Tangy Bite (Highly recommended for starters). (11/10)

I had the Grilled Ostrich Fillet as my main meal, I believe the sauce could be better, kind of too bland for me, probably add a spicy option (6/10)

For Desert, I got the cookie skillet dessert with ice cream. Tasted really nice (9/10)

Fine dining at its best. Magnificently setup environment, creating a relaxing atmosphere and relishing experience.
Food very good and richly prepared to specification. Impressive professional service and of course the staff where committed in making you leave a good memory.

I was looking forward to a great Sunday lunch with my family at The Smiths restaurant. We had been hearing rave reviews about the food and service, and we were not disappointed.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly staff and ushered to our table. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and we could tell that we were in for special experience.

We started our meal with the sweet and tangy bites, which were a perfect way to introduce our toddler to the flavors of the restaurant. She loved them!

For our main course, I had the cajun alfredo with grilled prawns, and my husband had the teriyaki steak. Both dishes were delicious and perfectly cooked.

My older son and daughter had the bourbon burger, while their nanny settled for the hibachi poke bowl with grilled chicken, and they also raved about it.

The service was impeccable throughout our meal. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, and he made sure that we had everything we needed.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at The Smiths Restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Had an amazing experience. Really a good place to be and their meal needs to be studied because I enjoyed every bit of it🥰 can’t wait to be back there.

The pour amore whiskey based cocktail blew my mind away! Very good mix of flavours.

Upscale restaurant with great food, drinks, and 5 star service. This is a classy, low lit, serene vibe... great place for a special date, birthday dinner. The best crispy prawns in Lagos!

Great food, vibes and service. Really enjoyed our time here ! They do charge for water and takeaway plates which was a surprise. But overall great place, we enjoyed ourselves!

First time at The Smiths and it was an awesome experience. From the ambience to the food and the service….5 star all the way. Our waiter was Joy and she was so attentive and sweet! A new standard has been set in Lagos and I am definitely coming back!!!
