FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE & CHEER.. Among the traditions of CNY are family gatherings and reunion dinner or feasting, a yee sang tossing session, the offering of tea to parents, ang pow give-aways as an act of blessings, the lighting of lanterns (believed to ward off evil spirits), and joyful events to usher in the Lunar New Year. And Grisek is famous for its tradition to mark the Lunar New Year celebrations with grand festivities. So, after two years of muted celebrations due to Covid-19 restriction and the movement control order, colourful lanterns are lit up again in Grisek and decorate the main street and an adjoining park as CNY festivities spring back in full force ahead of the very special day. The festive lights are coming on nightly to welcome the New Year, and will be there to brighten the place throughout the 15-day festival. In the Year of the Rabbit, a super-sized, larger-than-life and gigantic rabbit statue is also lit at the Grisek's own "Garden by the Bay" to mark the upcoming celebrations. This year's festival features exciting activities including a festive fair which gestures many street stalls peddling a variety of goodies. As for me, I should mention on the night of my visit, the road leading to was jammed with cars, and I had to park my car far away as all the parking space at the designated area was fully occupied. And I had to walk around a hundred metres along a road with red lanterns of different shapes and sizes hanging on wires above me to reach the festive spot which was already flooded with people. Amid a sea of visitors admiring the beautiful sight of a wonderful place which was once again brightened up with thousands of beautiful lights as it was far beyond what we could have dreamed of, I definitely struggled to squeeze myself and take some photos. And the photos turned out beautiful and it was all worth it as I felt like stepping into another world. That was because the entire place had been transformed into a wonderland. It is something I had not witnessed and experienced before. To be frank, CNY tradition is something I didn't grow up with, but I've really enjoyed learning about it. And the festival of Lights in Grisek always brings people of different faiths and races and migrant workers from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Nepal to usher in a harmonious period for all. This will strengthen the spirit of goodwill, unity and tolerance among us. And I love the positive energy and seeing everyone enjoying themselves. Of course the festival of Light in Grisek can't be compared to that of the i-City in Shah Alam, but it never fails to mesmerize the crowd in Grisek and attract out-of-towners and visitors.

1st time coming to this small town because of the beautiful light decoration.
If you from other state and using highway to come here, it only take 16min driving after exit the highway tol. And before arriving the grisek town, you still can visit the Sawah Ring on the way you coming here.
Hopefully this festival will going on every year.

The small town of Grisek is especially popular during the CNY celebrations every year when it hold the annual festival of lights. In fact it is the best festival of lights I have ever seen. During this time, there will usually be street performers, food stalls and other special activities lined up for visitors.
