Pillars of Sabah

Creative use of space and of an abandon building lot. Rather than being knocked over for another shopping mall or hotel . Why not celebrate local creative talents and give them a space to show off. Kudos to the organisers. Kipidap!

They're onto their second series of art! This time representing endangered animals in Sabah. Love this project and how it brings more colour and art to the city. I hope the Sabah government keeps supporting great projects like this because it's great for tourists like us (photo ops!) and surprisingly informative!

The Pillar of Sabah. The painted columns are very beautiful and creative. It is a good idea to take photos and be happy to get there because the city center location is Kota Kinabalu.

Beautiful art detailing Sabah's endangered animals. Free of charge art in the heart of the city for all to enjoy.

This a small tourist attraction comprising many sculptures the various ocean creatures found in the waters of sabah. Not really worth a visit.

Free entry, just by roadside. make sure to park your car properly. The pillars theme changed if you compare to other reviews earlier.

Nice art placement in the middle of town. Nevertheless, look a little bit abandoned and need public trash can nearby.

Awesome street art spot with good artistic interventions that raise awareness of the situation of various animals in danger of extinction.

If you ever decide to head to Kota Kinabalu, and you love to get some great images clicked that are artsy head to the Pillars of Sabah.

Very nice street art outside, and really interesting exhibition about marine life and insects, inside on the upper floor, very informative and entertaining !

Amazing artwork site, in front of Suria Mall.

It is very beautiful and be sure to come at night on Saturday or Sunday because there is a lots of food stalls that open and obviously never visit at afternoon because it is very hot Moreover at night the lighting of that place is very beautiful

It's a beautiful way to appreciate all the art. I'm guessing they will change the art every season, cause I'm seeing very different art then my friends (come in totally different time).

Very nice place, I highly recommend you to go there! And go inside in the 2nd floor, there is a great expo with a lot a great pictures and we learned a lot about sea preservation and insects in Borneo!!

Originally, this place was the Land and Survey Office, a wooden building built during British rule. Buildings that have a concrete pillar of concrete are the remains of colonizers but have been burned during the day without any known cause. I personally saw the building burned in a fire.

After that, with a solid and uniform column structure; narrow and in between other modern buildings, it is not difficult to rebuild. The land owned by the state government has been renovated as a heritage site, allowing local painters to demonstrate their skills by painting meaningful objects. Young people and youth are recognized by allowing them to trigger their passion and flow of thought through unique, colorful paintings and sometimes very abstract.

You can take pictures as mementos, backgrounds of painters' drawings; as a memorable visit to Kota Kinabalu, the capital of the state of Sabah.
