A great place to find out more about the Orang Asli. Learned how to play conkat with Ariz and wove banana leaves with the villagers. Don’t leave until you have checked out the lovely woven goodies in the shop. We did ring beforehand to check if the village was open but no answer - unfortunately if it rains, they lose the wifi signal!

Lives this place . Mr Rashid and his team absolutely killed it. His passion and dedication to this Mah Meri history and people are so commendable.

But , to go, please book in advance.

This is because they are very proud and happy to receive guests. They will prepare a guide , welcoming ceremony with blessing for their valuable guests and even a crown.

Please do not be rude and ask what you want of them. But see their history with open hearts. Their way of life is something that we are only just learning and teaching our kids. Isn’t that amazing ?

I walked into this cultural centre hoping to learn about Malaysia’s orang asli but I came away learning more.

Mr Rashid, his dedication and passion to this place and their people deserves our utmost respect, showed us around.
He painstakingly explained Mah Meri people’s history and their practices.

To see this place, it’s preferred that you book in advance as they have limited guides.

Mah Meri are proud and happy to receive visitors with a welcoming ceremony , blessing and even a crown.

They will prepare according to the informed numbers and requests.

It’s a small place but, only thru a guide’s explanation will you be able to learn their history properly. It’s interesting that they already know and was practicing what we are only just finding out and starting to teach our young ones now.

There are only about 4200 of them. They need our support to remain as part of Malaysia’s colorful history.

not too far from KL if you want to experience origin people of Malaysia. Their art on making mask is amazing.. you can join them during dancing too with beautiful clothes decoration. Mask crafting and dancing is at different location. just 3-4 minutes walk.

A great place to know about Mah Meri tribe! People are friendly there. We have a chance to dress up, learnt to make a handcraft and dancing. There also have some small games there. We will go again next feb or march for their new year event.

One small tip, apply mozzie repellent b4 go in. 😂😂😂😂

Mah Meri Cultural Village is very informative and yet so little is known of them. The "pokok besi" aka iron tree used in carving is getting scarce, and development may also threaten supply of nipah and mengkuang leaves used in traditional weaving. While there also check out Hatter Castle and other buildings dating back 1920s at Sime Darby Plantation.

Interesting place to know orang asli named Mah Meri or people that live in jungle. Not that far from KL, and can continue the trip to Morib.

I found it to be very interesting and informative. The Mah Meri have a very fascinating culture and beautiful art. You can wear their unusual woven costumes and handcarved masks to take photos. You can also learn to weave with palm leaves. Please take the time to read the information in the air-conditioned gallery to find out more about Mah Meri traditions and rituals. It's very quiet there now during the Covid-19 pandemic (they usually get many visitors from cruise ships) so it's a good time to go to have the whole place to yourself. Do go and support them!
