The whole experience was amazing. Food was amazing and so was the host. She is so sweet and her dog Nino is adorable. The atmosphere of her home/restaurant is incredible. Truly unique. Kinda necessary for some fluency in Spanish to get the full experience.

Authentic and intimate Mexican dining. It’s a set menu, mostly delicious vegetarian with some chicken mole. A bit pricey ($62/2 people, incl 2 cervecas) Sophia, the owner/chef & family prepare the food nearby so you can watch. She only speaks Spanish. Reservation recommended. Great date place for a quiet dinner. Accepts pesos/$$.

Sophia shared laughter, warmth and heartfelt food. She accommodated my partners dietary needs perfectly. The ambiance and authenticity make the experience special. Our meal was perfectly seasoned and prepared. The margaritas were excellent and the flavors of the mole were mind opening. I couldn’t recommend more. Regarding price, it was an expensive meal but set aside criticism and open up to a wonderful culinary experience. It’s an intimate low volume business model. I’m sure the late Anthony Bourdain would agree it’s worth every peso.

One of the most special (and delicious!) meals in my life. This is a must-do for a local foodie, those who love women owned and operated businesses, or anyone who appreciates the soul put into family food. We spent about $85 (including tip) for two people for the fixed menu and two fabulous margaritas. Obviously a lot for Baja, but this meal is worth more than money. The mole is swoon worthy. It is comprised of 37 different chili peppers (not spicy) and is prepared the traditional way: ground by hand. We will be returning when we pass through Loreto again!

Make a reservation in advance and come eat an authentic, delicious, and varied meal. The pace is beautiful and the food is the best we have had in Loreto. Bring cash.

A must if you’re in Loreto and you enjoy authentic Mexican flavours. Sofia offers a unique culinary experience whereby you are seated in the courtyard of her house surrounded by interesting artefacts and crafts, with Sofia cooking in her amazing open kitchen. There is no menu, she just brings you different courses, all of which are made with love and culinary know-how. Her daughter comes round with freshly prepared margaritas too. Especially when travelling, it was such a treat to have a home cooked meal. We felt totally en casa! Be sure to reserve at least the day before and to arrive hungry on the day. You won’t be left wanting. It’s not cheap but the prices are reflective of the time and effort put into the meal and hospitality.

What a wonderful experience to be able to see and/or help in the preparation of our meal at Sofia’s kitchen. Reservation is needed, is a fix menu and it may varied every day.

One of the best meals I have ever had, full
stop. Sofia and Rosie took great care of us. Everything was delicious. No menu - just a great experience where they cook traditional food in front of you. Everyone who comes to Loreto should eat here.

This was such a memorable dinner and experience. For the night I felt like Anthony Bourdain, being shown the food and culture as if we were in abuelas house eating. This is like having a private chef (you pay much more for that in the states) , the food is delicious. The zucchini soup was unlike anything I had tasted before. Be open, let go of control, and if you want a unique experience, please support Sofia! She is a beautiful person and we will be back again to see what she makes with love!

Indoor/outdoor setting in the shadow of the historic church's bell tower. The owner/chef Sofia prepares the meal in her outdoor kitchen as she engages with her guests. What a unique experience! Reservations required.

Took an afternoon cooking class with Sofia, and it was amazing! We had a group of 8 and learned lots and enjoyed our time so much. Recipes included tamales, chiles rellenos, guac, salsa, taquitos, and more. What an amazing space, family, and delicious food!

A must do for any traveler looking for a deeply unique cultural experience. The owner Sophia cooks authentic home-cooked Mexican food which pairs perfectly with her amazingly friendly and bubbly energy. You truly will never forget your night if you choose to dine here! Why go to the other restaurants which only exist to replicate what you’ll find back in the Sates?

Ours only knock was that the margaritas were not very good - but overall we were delighted with our time.

Sophia is an amazing host! She cooks up the most wonderful authentic meal. You are more or less sitting in her kitchen! There are no menus so you will be served whatever is prepared for the day, and be prepared to enjoy! The cost was about 550 pesos including the most heavenly mango margarita! I highly recommend Canipoli.

HIGHLY recommend eating here. Stayed in Loreto for 3 weeks and easily one, if not the, best restaurant we ate at. People say it's pricey because you don't see a menu in advance (she cooks what she's making for dinner that night) but the prices are on par with every other restaurant in the square. Imagine basically eating in a real Mexican kitchen. Home cooked meal with heart & love from the chef. The restaurant has been there for 20+ years and the owner/cook, Sophia, is an incredible person to talk to if you can speak any Spanish or have a translator. Even if you don't, she'll make it work. Almost felt as if I was getting a home-cooked meal from my grandma. She was also flexible with dietary restrictions as I don't eat meat and it was incredible. She told me Brad Pitt once ate there years ago and she had no idea who he was at the time but he was very handsome lol. Such a history in this place. FYI - believe its cash onlyGOOOO!!
