Makuko's Fish Tacos

Eating the seafood at Makuko’s was a revelation. The fish tacos here were by no means traditional but were super creative and delicious in their own way. The Makuko Taco was made with two corn tortillas topped with an enormous pile of battered fish crumbled into pieces, whole shrimp, and a battered and chopped chile güero (Santa Fe Grande pepper) stuffed with marlin. The taco came without any condiments or sauces, but you could help yourself at the salsa bar to a huge selection of items including chopped cabbage, cabbage slaw, onions, lime, cucumbers, pico de gallo, and a dozen different salsas—my favorites were the crema with cilantro and crema with chipotle. The monstrous fish taco was the definite highlight, but I also had to try their Tostada Especial, a tostada topped with a huge portion of chopped fish ceviche, shrimp, octopus, and scallops, topped with a sweet and acidic salsa negra, onions, avocado, and cucumber slices. The ceviche wasn’t the most flavorful I’ve had but came at an incredible value, given the amount of seafood on the tostada! No wonder this place is so popular!

You have to go to this place definitely the best fish, tacos and ceviche I’ve had. I got the mixed ceviche and just the regular fish taco and they were so good. They also have really good local beers.

What a find!!! Terrific fresh fish dishes at very affordable prices. At 2pm on a Saturday, I had to wait for a table. Place was packed with very happy diners! Lots of condiments and sauces. Totally recommend Makuko's can't wait to get back. Table service by two friendly guys named Jose. Kitchen managed by Alexa.

We visited Makuko's Fish Tacos on a recent cruise to Ensenada on the recommendation of our guide. He said they serve some of the best Fish Tacos, Ceviche, and Shrimp Tacos in Ensenada. A bold statement considering Ensenada is world famous for it's fish tacos. They had a wide variety of salsas and condiments that were a perfect compliment for the dishes,
Well he was right! The Ceviche, Fish Tacos, and Shrimp Tacos were the best our group had ever tasted. There were many more selections to chose from but we only tried the tacos and ceviche. The place was clean and full of local enjoying a noontime meal. Highly recommended. We will return!

Really good, i see what the hype is about now. Large portions good taste well seasoned. I recommend to come in before 1pm or else you have to wait in line. Fair prices. Would definitely recommend if you are in Ensenada 🩷

Loved this great taco place. Had three huge tacos that filled me up till the next day. They have a wide variety of tasty ones, like the classic fish taco, octopus, shrimp, marlin, etc and mixed ones. Also have other dishes like seafood salads and cocteles. Not that expensive. A must if you visit Ensenada.

Seriously the best food ever. The fish tacos are huge, so make sure to only order 2 if you're starving! I ordered 3, not knowing, and I couldn't finish the 3rd one. And I can eat. The service was not so great, but honestly, their food made up for it. I guess you can't have it ALL .. Right? We had ceviche, quesadilla, and fish tacos. Outstanding. Perfect crunch to the batter on the fish. Ceviche had the perfect seasoning, saltiness and lime was to die for.

Very good shrimp, fish and Marlin tacos, one Makuko taco is really two, enough for a grown adult like me 😀. The menu has a good variety of tacos and other dishes, great service, immediately available when we were seated. Located right on Ensenada main boulevard and there is parking in the back. A rather small place is the only con.

The best seafood we ate in Ensenada! They were packed with locals and service was quick. The taco Makuko was my favorite but the tostada de pulpo was also amazing and fresh.

If you're looking for a good and cheap place to get some tacos you have to go to this restaurant. Everything is so good but the makuko taco is the best 👌 👍 😍 .

Service was quick and food was great. Portions are huge and they have a bar with toppings and salsas . We tried mixto and Makuko, both delicious

I had a quesadilla gobernador and it was very good...plus they allow you to add your own ingredients after served.

Amazing place to eat for downtown Ensenada! Food is fresh and delicious you won’t be disappointed! They have a good variety of food selection and also have homemade drinks! I highly recommend!

I underestimated how big the tacos are! I got one shrimp and one fish. The condiment bar was small but very varied. The tacos were sublime!!!! I also got the consome de Marlin. Oh, how I wish I'd had the capacity to finish everything!!!

Love the food must try if you go to ensenada I recomend the makuquesadilla they also take debit cards!

Fresh, well prepared seafood. Excellent service. They speak fluent English here too. They seat you right away. If you’re hungry for good seafood, great place to get a quick taste of Ensenada

Amazing selection of salsas and toppings. The fish is amazing and the prices are beyond reasonable. Everything I have tried I have loved. If not a fried fish fan don't order it 😆 🤣 😂 the octopus and scallop was amazing and cost 12 dollars for a sharable portion!

We went here while on a cruise and some suggested Makuros. Basically do not order as if you would order in the States. We both got the ceviche and 2 fish tacos. In the states that would have been just enough, what we received was each about a pound of ceveche and about 2 pounds of fish tacos. Both of which were very fresh and very tasty. If you are on a cruise and stop at Ensenada I would highly recommend taking the short 15 - 20 min walk to go here. It is well worth the trip.
