Dr. Miguel Rodríguez Salinas, Cirujano Plástico en Monterrey

If you are from the USA and considering a plastic surgeon in Mexico. I started my search months ago when the prices in the US sky rocketed after covid. I had to get a procedure done and decided to get some additional things done off my wish list. The largest surgery was a mommy makeover and I had several scars repaired--one on my face. I searched for doctors in Mexico, Canada and Europe.

Dr. Miguel had a video conference with me to ASK what I wanted done. Believe it or not, I had several doctors that gave me quotes that didn't match what I was looking for. Dr. Miguel was interested in making me feel comfortable with my decision. He is board certified in Mexico and is a member of several plastic surgery organizations. He is also recommended from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in the US. The hospital he performs the surgery in is #16 in the world.

When I arrived, I met with the staff and doctor. Everyone was really nice! My Spanish is not great but Dr. Miguel spoke English and the anesthesiologist, Dr. Reynoldo spoke English as well. Everyone else was patient and would use a translator app with me, when needed. The hospital was very clean, very modern looking and felt just as nice as the nicest hospitals in the US or even better.

I met the anesthesiologist the day of the surgery. He gave me twilight that completely knocked me out before he gave me an epidural. I never felt any pain. After the surgery he gave me a pain killer drip that would help with pain for 4 days. It worked great! The anesthesiologist was probably the doctor I communicated with the most during the first week after surgery. He would check on me daily and was often doing surgeries with Dr. Miguel so he would answer any and all questions I had while they were together. I felt like I had two great doctors taking care of me.

My surgery went well. The doctor was really good at telling me what I could expect and what I needed to do after surgery. He told me that he did liposuction on 2 small areas on my hips because he didn't like the way it looked without. While I didn't think I wanted lipo it does look better and I can tell he didn't do too much. The stitching is very tight and it looks like the scars will be very thin. The doctor gave me compression garments for my body and chest to reduce swelling. I did swell up, as he said I would, but it wasn't as much as I expected. I was still able to fit into my same workout pants without any issues. The only thing I really didn't like was taking the drain tube out. It was really painful but only for a few seconds.

My entire stay was 15 days. I was able to get all my preop tests & visits done and 2 follow up visits. I was lucky enough to work remote online and felt good enough to start working 3 days after my surgery. It was good staying as long as I did as it takes a week to stand up straight and almost 2 weeks to feel normal again. The whole time I was able to ask questions and get help if I needed it.

I stayed at an Airbnb in Santa Catarina. The neighborhood is very safe, very clean, very nice homes and I was only 50 feet from the pharmacy. (As a side note, the pharmacies have a doctor on site as well for donations or very little cost.) I did rent a car as we wanted to stay in this neighborhood. Driving in Monterrey takes a little bit to get used to. The roads are laid out differently and GPS directions don't always match up with the signs. There are lots of hotels near the hospital. If you are not comfortable driving in a new city/country, there are lots of nice hotels within walking distance.

Deciding to do a surgery in another country is not an easy decision to make. I felt really good about Dr. Miguel before the surgery and am really glad I chose him now that everything is done. He gave me a natural look and my scar on my face is almost invisible. Should I want to do anything else in the future, I will reach out to Dr. Miguel first. Dr. Miguel did my nose and gave me a chin implant. Whenever I came in March for a consultation he knew right away exactly what to do with my face and let me know the whole process of what to expect.

Fast forward to now in August I did my operation and everything went smoothly. The recovery time was so fast and not painless at all. I was able to still walk around, eat and even go to the market two days after my surgery.

One week after my surgery I was able to see my nose without the cast and it looks amazing. My chin and my nose are now proportioned to my face and I love how my nose just looks so natural.

Dr. Miguel is an amazing surgeon and I love how attentive he is with you. He will call and text to check up on you before the surgery after the surgery and even a week after surgery. Even before I had my surgery I had a lot of questions and he was able to answer them right away at any time of the day. I highly recommend to do any type of work with him! I look forward to having him do more work on me in the future.

Dr. Miguel Rodriguez is such a great doctor with phenomenal work! I had rhinoplasty done with him 2 weeks ago and already loving the results! I had 0 pain and minimal to no bruising. Dr. Miguel Rodriguez reviews with you what you want done over four times prior to surgery, making you feel very confident and comfortable going in. He’s also always available through text/phone call for any questions you might have pre and post surgery. 10/10 recommend.

El Dr. Miguel es muy profesional y tiene mucha experiencia. Desde que entré a su oficina se dedicó a escuchar lo que yo quería, y me ayudo a elegir lo que me hacía sentir mejor. El doctor respondió a todos a mis dudas y se aseguró de todo antes de mi cirugía. Ya han pasado un par de meses y me siento muy bien. Se nota que el doctor se tomo su tiempo para que la cicatriz quedara lo menos notoria posible. El equipo que trabaja con el también es muy profesional. El doctor Reynaldo de anestesia también hizo un trabajo increíble, y se aseguró que despertara bien de la anestesia. La señorita Faviola asistente del doctor Miguel siempre respondió a mis preguntas y estuvo disponible. Lo recomiendo mucho, especialmente si vives en Estados Unidos y te quieres operar en Mexico.
