The monastery is absolutely stunning inside the outer wall with 108 stupas. Really beautiful in midwinter with the ice and snow. Exceptionally peaceful, friendly monks, happy to say prayers and tell fortunes, etc. Well worth a visit.

One of the museum that you must visit while in Mongolia. It's an ancient site since chinggis Khan. Built as a temple for the monk to gather to pray, it's very sad to see that this place is destroy by the war in the past. There are many beautiful statues and ornaments inside the museum

First buddhist temple in Mongolia. The site was enclosed by wall. There is huge empty green place in the wall, where is destroyed by china. But there’s still monks are lived in, and many Mongolian visit here. There is guide each of building but only speak Mongolian.

It is a beautiful temple with many interesting points. It would be greater if you can hire a guide who can tell you about historic background. The Buddhist paintings called Tangka are very delicate and magnificent.

Karakorum is known by many names and even more reputations. Once the home of the world’s most famous Khan, this ancient city quickly became one of the Silk Road’s most important – and progressive – convergence points.

A must-visit attraction, and despite the bad weather with rain during our visit, we still thoroughly loved it. There are professional English guides available.

For hundreds of years, the custom of hunting with eagles had been passed down through the generations on the Eurasian steppe. Chinngis Khan is said to have had over five thousand eagle riders in his own personal guard. The hunting eagles like this one are all female— they are a third heavier and more aggressive than the males. They can take down rabbits and foxes, and can even outfight a wolf it the eagle is ferocious enough! A golden eagle can live in captivity for about forty years and grow old with her handler, but I was told that alternatively a bird may become part of a human family for about a decade, and then be released back into the wild to that she can mother more eagles. As you can see, I am pretty thoroughly excited to be interacting with this gal, who in contrast stayed cooly poised and completely calm throughout.

In 1939, thousands of monks were murdered and hundreds of monasteries were destroyed in a wave of communism. This monastery is one of the few to have survived those turbulent times, and today serves as a living museum for visitors. Dating as far back as 1585, the monastery today houses many statues and relics. It is worth a short stop-over on a road trip.
