After having completed a wonderful journey with Firefly, I felt compulsory to write this review.

I did a half-day boat trip on the Duthawadi River as I didn’t have much time. The river view was amazing, and all of the people we met, including villagers, elders and monks, were so kind and friendly. Although the trip was short, I managed to bring back good memories, not to mention a good conversation with the guide, Mitch, who is very energetic, helpful and knowledgeable of the region.

Thanks to Firefly for giving me such experience.

I wholeheartedly recommend Firefly to all of you who might be looking for a great trekking experience in Hsipaw.

One of our best expiriences in myanmar. We had mine lay is our guide he was so kind and truely minded to make the trek as enjoyable it could get. The trek was beautiful and the food was so delicious the palang food was amazing, probably the best food we ate in myanmar... you have to try the egg salad and tomato salad. the villages we slept at were less touristic but still so many travellers have been to the villages north of hsipaw that its still a little touristic. The locals were kind and some still interested in meeting us and spend time with a foreigner.

First day: walk to the village you see phankam and a smaller village nearby where you sleep.
Second day: waterfall and walk to tan sam where we slept.
Third day: walk from tan sam to hsipaw

I very enjoyed three days trekking trip with guide Mike. The trip was amazing and even exceeded my high expectations. Highlights were the mountain views, flora, jungle, villages and last but not least very delicious local food. I definitely recommend booking a trekking trip with Firefly. Thanks for the hospitality and great experience!

My wife and I just finished a 3 day trek in the Shan hills - super awesome! We met a bunch of amazing people, saw stunning picturesque scenery and ate some of the best food we've had while being in Myanmar.

To me, the hike itself was a 6/10 in difficulty. We walked between 15-20kms a day, with mixed terrain - some flat, some really steep, most of it rocky and uneven.

The first night we stayed in a bamboo house overlooking a spectacular valley, million dollar view for sure! The second night we stayed in a half concrete, half timber house on top of a mountain. Each night we had a village family look after us, they were all super friendly, very welcoming and really good cooks!

My favourite part of the trek was the second day, hiking down the mountain into a gorge through a heap of water crossings, to a waterfall tucked away in a valley. We then ate lunch next to the creek (which we also swam in before lunch), prepared by a local man right there - he was super friendly and really interesting to watch. It was unreal to see what he could make from his surroundings and what he gathered to cook with, best meal on the trip!

My wife and I would really like to thank Mitch and the Firefly team for an amazing trek! I would 100% recommend Firefly to anyone looking to do a trek in Myanmar.

The hike was really great! We saw some different amazing scenery. We stayed at a lovely home who served some of the best food i had. And the guide spoke excellent english. Also i felt really save. I guess there is some fake news around about fighting in the villages because i didn't feel or saw anything.

Cannot recommend this trek or firefly enough! Had the most amazing 2D/3N trek through jungle, bamboo forests, waterfalls, corn fields, rice terraces, and hills - stayed in amazing homestays, ate beautiful local food and learnt an insane amount about the history and culture of Myanmar from our incredible guides Aka and Nono. Honestly - if you want a true Myanmar experience - do this. Mitch (owner) and his father couldn’t have done more for us - greeted us with cake and coffee both before and after the trek and helped us book our Mandalay—bagan boat trip! Thank you firefly for an amazing experience!

I went on a trek with Firefly Northern Shan State Trek and it was wonderful. The guides spoke good English and knew where to go and where not to go in the hills around Hsipaw. More importantly, they were from the villages so they knew the various languages, customs and the people, so they were able to explain what we saw and translate for us when we wanted to speak with the villagers.

The views along the trek were spectacular, and at night, the stars in the sky were breathtaking without the light pollution of a city. The guilde was also very helpful--when he saw that someone in the group was struggling, he offered to carry their bag.

This company has very professional guides, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering a trek around Hsipaw.

Coincidentally, I found this company when I was looking for a trek and was looking for the No. 1 rated trekking company in Hsipaw., as rated by TripAdvisor. It turns out that a number of the top rated trekking guides on that platform have joined forces and formed this company. These guys are young, energetic, and passionate about trekking in Hsipaw and showing tourists the beauty of their hillside villages and countryside. If you go trekking with these guys, you won't be disappointed!

I'm blown away by how awesome Kham Ai was. First of all, he's simply a wonderful person to be around-- smart, friendly, funny and engaging (with flawless English), not to mention the most beautiful life outlook and fascinating life story.
We hiked through a stunning location, and when the path become super muddy and I had a hard time walking down without slipping, he graciously and repeatedly helped. then when we got to a point when the original path was un-passabale, he ran ahead to create new path in the cornfield. Then, with about a mile left, it started thundering and he sprinted ahead the entire way to pick me up on a motorbike so we wouldn't be caught in the ran.

So impressed and and lucky to have met him.

We did an amazing 2 days treck with Firefly. Our guide was extremly well educated and always took care for us. Staying in the mountain village was one of the highlights in 4 weeks Myanmar. We can strongly recommend booking with Firefly.
