Chaung Tha Beach .Pathein .Ayeyawaddy

A default beach for many of Myanmar people, especially from Yangon. The drive from Yangon only takes 6 hours, with tea breaks and drive very slow/steadily. So u get up and leave around 5a.m and u be there at noon.
The beach itself is not that great. The sand is blackish, the waves quite calm, the water can be a bit muddy from times. But this beach is immensely popular with locals. Many hotels of different budgets and class are located right on the beach. There are vendors selling/renting all sorts of stuffs. U can have BBQs on sticks, rent bikes, tubes and floats. Kids roaming around offering u to take photos of urself with ur phone for a fee. Horses and their trainers. Parasalings, speedboat service to nearby island. It has a lot of stuffs to offer. But it is also very messy. Vendors will basically harass you the moment u step in, to buy their stuffs/service and to donate money. Horses follow u and ask u to ride (the horses poop, and they just leave the poop on the beach, dug a little hole and cover with less than an inch of sand. (Don't ask me how i found out, FREQUENTLY!!!))
It will be better if the locals, vendors respect visitors, let them be, let them enjoy a walk and not follow everywhere even after a polite no. And keep the beach clean. Dont litter. It is extremely off putting.
Great sunset from sudden spots. Good for a dip in the sea, at cleaner part of the beach.

At current situation, it is not clean before. Frankly,I would like to recommend Ngapali and Ngwe Saung beach.
