Minaret Pierreux

Built within the Ksar L'Oudaghir, one of the seven ksours in the city of Figuig, a true architectural gem, the Figuig octagonal minaret of the mosque was built from stones in 11th century. It bears witness to the historical and civilizational richness of the Oriental region and the creative genius of the Figuiguis of that era.
Founded by the descendants of Abderrahmane El Idrissi, known as El Ouadghiri ben Ali, this mosque unlike any other has a square base of 4.5 m on each side, which further adopts an octagonal shape from 5m height. The minaret, which rises to 19 meters, is covered with limestone slabs, yellow clay and decorative battlements.
As all mosques in Morocco, except 2, this one also is not accessible for non-muslims.
