This is absolutely the place to stay in Zaroga. We visited for 2 nights in October and had a wonderful experience. The poolside breakfast was fantastic, the grounds were gorgeous, and we enjoyed relaxing at the pool and the hammocks in the garden. The dinner was delicious as well. Thank you very much for the hospitality!!

This is a beautiful riad. We just stayed one night en route to the desert, but if you have more time I would highly recommend a day of relaxation here. There are hammocks and a lively garden with some of the best-smelling roses I've ever smelled. The pool area is pretty and romantic at dinner time with candles. The road in front can be a bit loud. but it didn't dampen our experience at all.

Beautiful garden, nice swimming pool, amazing breakfast and dinner. The food was delicious! The staff and especially Saida and Ibrahim were super welcoming and friendly. Thanks to them, we just felt home during the stay, and they provided us careful attention when I wasn't feeling well. Thank you again so much for your hospitality. We'll definitely come back again to your hotel! Fanny & Sam

The most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed! Everything is beautifully decorated, and the details are everywhere! Besides that the rooms are nice, the food is good and the hosts very welcoming!

If one is traveling to Morocco and has the desire for slightly off the beaten path touring, crossing over the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech and continuing through Ouarzazate to Zagora, in the Sahara desert is not to be missed. The place to stay in Zagora, Riad Dar Sofian on the edge of the town and in the Oasis. My wife and I have made the trip and stayed at Riad Dar Sofian two times, the first in 2012 and the second over Christmas in 2022. The owner is the same, the staff is extraordinary, the Riad is bright and airy, beautifully decorated and furnished in the best of Moroccan style. Our room, “Zagora”, was on the main floor and very lovely, and kept very clean each day and included a good wi-fi connection. By name, Hicham is the manager and always easily accessible and responsive; Ibrahim is the receptionist and is equally welcoming and responsive; Saida, the lady, and Issam, the gentleman, were our servers with whom we enjoyed a lot of conversation and friendly banter every day, breakfast and dinner on our “demi-pension” plan. Dar Sofian has a full bar and offers very good and reasonably priced Moroccan wines – reds, whites and rose. The food was sumptuous and delicious. Breakfast included fresh breads and Raif, mixed fruits featuring fresh tangerines, bananas, strawberries, apples among several fruits, several kinds of yogurt, fresh orange juice, coffee or tea, dates, prunes, and many kinds of comfiture and honey, etc. Of course, omelets or boiled eggs were always available if requested. Dinner on the demi-pension was actually very much the same as the dinner menu for visitors coming just for an evening meal, including appetizers, soup, salads, beef-chicken-fish as principal servings, and several delicious deserts. The staff, of course, is always ready to make suggestions for strolling in the Oasis, going to markets, going for camel rides, and exploring the end of the road at M’Hamid, not far from the border with Algeria. Moroccan security is outstanding as I can attest after having lived in the country for five years and having made many subsequent return trips. The weather was bracingly cool, even cold, at night in December but sunny-bright in the daytime with temperatures hovering around 68 – 70 degrees Fahrenheit. What could be better, we ask ourselves, and so far haven’t come up with a more lovely Oasis to visit and a hotel Riad to stay in.

Fantastic Riad. Friendly, intimate, large pool, but probably the best you will get there is the service (hello to Ibrahim). I recommend food from the menu - the cook is a world champion. Real quintessence of Morocco.

We have stayed in Riad Dar Sofian for a week and we were very happy there. Imbrahim and his team made our stay amazing with nice rooms, very good breakfast and very tasty dinners. The Riad is very nice with a great garden. We really felt very welcome and like at home. Imbrahim also arranged the most beautiful trip to Sahara desert. We hope to go back soon. Thank you so much for the lovely stay.

Found this Riad along the road beside a group of palm tree. The entry attracted us to go inside. The was parking in front. You will find inside beautiful architectural details and interesting objects which was carefully curated by the owner i believe. The best part was the pool. It was big and very clean. The space was beautiful. The AC worked perfectly and the Wifi was strong. It was nice having a good connection to the internet. The shower pressure was strong. Just like back home in Canada. I would definitely come back. Recommended.

A little oasis on the way to the Sahara. The riad is breathtaking. All the creature comforts you can hope for. The rooms are spacious, clean, and air conditioned. They have a beautiful pool surrounded by shady palms. We had a three course meal provided by Saeda that was excellent. Our wonderful concierge Ibrahim was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Zagora

Riad Dar Sofian is the true desert oasis. We spent here 2 nights in fall 2015. Despite our late arrival we got a perfect dinner with perfect service in charming environment looking like from fairytale. The Riad is located on calm street on "the other side of Zagora" (when coming from Ouarzazate). It has its own parking. Behind the building is located 1001-style garden with palms, all-year-around swimming pool and at night beautiful lights. You should know that Morocco is a beautiful country of hospitality, but Riad Dar Sofian (called so after owners son) takes it to another level with perfect service and wonderful Moroccan breakfasts (which we liked do much that we ordered it instead of lunch after we returned from our trip to the desert).
