Bet iesaku sarunāt ekskursijas pa fabriku iepriekš, it sevišķi ja vajadzība tās vadīt citās valodās. Sidra namā, var omulīgā garā dzert gan aukstu gan karstu sidru, kafiju vai tēju un dabūt garšīgu ēdienu.
Sabiles Cider factory and the Cider house, which are across the street from each other are a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Kurzeme. In the factory you can take a tour that will show you how the cider is made, tell you about the history of cider, and also taste it. The cider is made from local apples and tastes really good. The staff was also very nice and friendly, however, if you want a tour in a language other than Latvian, I think it's best to call ahead and arrange it. In the Cider House which is on the other side of the Main Street, but owned by the same people, you can have cold and hot cider, coffee or tea, or also food, in a very cosy setting!

Went this September with my family, and a partner (5 people total). My family is Latvian, he's Polish, but we met in the UK and strictly speak English to one another (no Latvian was voiced, but of course I understand it fully). We took a 3 day trip from Riga, to Tukums, to Sabile, to Kuldiga, to Ventspils, and then to Kolka and back (visiting all the important stuff on the way back including Tsoi memorial etc, right where my father has been fishing for 3 decades, and where Tsoi used to fish too).
When we just arrived to Sabile my partner saw the establishment and wanted to get something as a souvenir to enjoy with some of my other family members that didn't come with us due to car space back in Riga. There was another family of 4 in there doing a tasting, and my partner decided to try one of the ciders too. Atmosphere wasn't too bad, although the place seemed extremely empty and I'm personally not a fan of cider but I've always enjoyed Sabile with the fishing trips with my father, and it was a first time being there with my dad and my partner and we wanted to get something to remember Sabile by apart from visiting my father's best friends, going fishing at the Abava river, the doll garden pictures and nice meals.
When we decided on the cider to buy and I queued up right behind the family before us with my partner while my family was closer to the door. The other family put aside cost of the alcohol, and then they said (this whole exchange is in Latvian) "oh, here's also the money for the tasting, sorry we forgot!". The woman at the counter, older, perhaps in her 50s, short dark/black hair proceeded to say "we don't charge the customers extra" with a smile on her face. I thought this was lovely and nice, but when it came to charging us, despite us buying a more expensive bottle, she added the charge.
The charge was not the problem. The problem was the favouritism right in front of us and to our face. Her demeanour was also more stern/less cheerful. My partner of course didn't spot this, but when leaving I told him what happened and how inappropriate it made me feel and how much I regret not standing up against this blatant rudeness. It soured the experience and has been brewing inside me for a while (no puns intended), and I've once again spent the last 10 minutes lamenting over not telling her how inappropriate it was just because we spoke English and she thought we couldn't understand her. This really put a dampener on my time in Sabile. Everything else was lovely, but visiting Sabiles Sidrs shop was a huge mistake.
The cider ended up being okay and semi-sweet but relatively mediocre. Really wish I gave the Abavas cider a try instead, as this was also offered in the restaurants we went to, and I spotted it in many places (although with a bigger upmark) in Valmiera and Riga. I genuinely cannot recommend this simply based on the awful experience delivered by this employee.

Или вкус странный или попалась бутылка со скисшим сидром. В общем без дегустации лучше не брать. Но сама дегустация 1.5 евро.
