Shangri-La Hambantota

We went there for a family vacation. Food, stay, atmosphere and everything else was good. Loved that they had many leisure and recreational activities. Whole staff was very friendly and helpful specially Mr. Prasanna and Mr. Mayura.

This hotel has something for everyone. We enjoyed 3 days here as part of a wedding party. From swimming to golf and great food. I would absolutely recommend for large groups of friends/ families.

We visited the hotel on last weekend in Jan 2024, and it was really a good start for 2024.

The check in took some time but it was understandable since there was alot of guests, and we were given the room earlier than the usual check in time. The room was arranged nicely and there was some complimentary gifts since it was our anniversary.

The room was modern and spacious had everything we wanted. And the balcony had good views of the golf course.

The staff was very kind and attentive. No complaints at all.

The food was very delicious and had a good variety.
The star of the stay was the outside activities they offer.
They have 2 large pools. And water play area including a water slide.
They also have stuff like archery, climbing stuff and Golf. Which you need to pay extra but totally worth IMO.

The beach is not the best, but very isolated and peaceful. More like a private beach.

We're looking forward to say at Shangri-la Hambanthota again. Recommend with 5 stars.

We stayed at Shangri La Hambantotta for 3 days. It was a beautiful and relaxing experience with plenty to do and a lot of scenic places to go to. The dining experience was wonderful, offering a diverse range of international cuisines to choose from. A special acknowledgement to Ms Umayanga at the restaurant reception for her graceful receival of us, and for all the hotel staff who were friendly and hospitable catering to any of the needs of their guests. Thank you for the happy memories, we hope to see you again.

We had an incredible stay at this hotel! Even though the hotel was full with guests the service was excellent. Everything was smooth and nice. The staff was very friendly and responsive. We booked an Ocean View room and the view was very nice and calm. Room was very clean and all the the things provided in the room was perfect. The food was amazing, delicious and had a good variety. If you are travelling with kids, they have a separate buffet and play areas as well.

This review is long overdue, but written with utmost gratitude. We went to Shangri- La Hambantota almost a year ago, and had an incredible holiday there.

I was initially reluctant to travel as my young son had strict dietary restrictions. However, all my worries were put to ease by Chef Champath, who is honestly THE definition of impeccable service and excellence. I almost cried tears of gratitude when he reassured me that he would cater to my son’s dietary needs.

Chef would prepare all the dishes, and send them to the room. He would thoughtfully send extra portions (one for the parent in the room), as he knew there is always a parent in the room with the child. He was easily contactable, and made amazing dishes with the limited ingredients that my son could eat.

We also enjoyed the pool, and the children had lots of fun at the splash park adjacent to the pool, and at the children’s club too. Our hotel room was also comfortable, and we always had restful sleep at night, and woke up refreshed in the morning. There was a great variety at the breakfast buffet, and we had delicious fresh food daily for all our meals.

The area is tranquil; perfect for a relaxing getaway.

All the staff are incredibly polite and professional.

I had an incredible stay at this hotel! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout my stay. The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean. The breathtaking views from my window were the cherry on top. The hotel's amenities, including the spa and fitness center, added a touch of luxury to my vacation. The dining experience was exceptional, with a diverse menu that catered to various palates. I can't wait to return to this hotel on my next trip — it truly made my stay memorable and enjoyable!

The hotel was excellent - lovely rooms and a great beach. However, the service is what made our trip in August unforgettable. Special shoutouts to Nissanka (Head of F&B), and Don (one of the senior chefs at the buffet). We had gluten free dietary requirements and were served with as much care and love as one would for family. They took every precaution and accommodated every request we had. Don (and his team) prepared special meals for us every night as well as special breakfast - all of which were absolutely delicious, not just by gluten-free standards (especially the brownies they prepared)! The quality of their service was shown when they saw how much we enjoyed the brownies (not just me, as the gluten-free customer, but my whole family too) and prepared a small box, enough for all of us, to take with us when were checking out. The team were absolutely phenomenal and made it the trip for my family and I. Thanks again to Nissanka and Don especially, and their teams.

Me and my family went to Shangri-La to have a vacation and let’s just say that the price was worth it. My family enjoyed it very much and they had a wonderful time . I would definitely recommend this place to people.

The rooms were very clean and were very cosy. They provide you with a kettle, a microwave and things to make your tea. The beds were very comfy. The bathrooms were very hygienic and it was a lovely way to have a shower because not only was the shower spacious it also had hot water.

There was multiple pools to choose for the safety of your children. There was an adult pool, a kiddie pools and a pool for everyone. They were cleaned and looked very nice 👍. The food was absolutely splendid and the cooks cook you anything when you ask for it.

The staff were very pleasant and nice and would always be there when you needed them. If you need room service all you have to do is call them from your room. Also everyday they come to clean the room once a day.

Overall I would DEFINITELY recommend Shangri-La in Hambanthota to you.

Me and my husband went to Shangri-La for our anniversary and let’s just say that the price was worth it.We enjoyed our stay very much . I would definitely recommend this place.
This was my second time in Shangri-La so we choose Premier Ocean Suite and it was excellent and surprisingly comfortable.It has separate living area and spacious balcony.They provide you with a kettle, things to make your tea,iron, TV (both bedroom and living room)and minibar. The bathroom was very hygienic.
There was multiple pools to choose,an adult pool, a kids pools and sunset pool . The food was delicious.There was indoor play area.
The staff were very pleasant and would always be there when you needed them(Special thanks to Ms Ridni).Highly recommend the resort for anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.

Shangri- la hambantota is the best ever resort I have ever been. Specially the front desk. The team went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Specially they gave us a nice room with nice view. The girls Dilrukshi, Tharindi, Nethmi is so nicely stayed with our baby.. The boy named Pasindu showed us around the hotel and provided all the information of the hotel. Memorable stay with these best team. I will definitely come back!!!

Stayed here for 2 days. For room service we has Hiruni and Jagath for the time we were here. Both are wonderful people and put a lot of effort into their service. The room looked just like how it did when we first arrived and work was fast and efficient. Very nice people to talk too and we could see how hard they work and their dedication to this job.

Our buffet server was Madhu, very fast working and professional girl. Managed the other staff with speed and resilience insuring guest satisfaction.

Only complaint is that the bidet in our bathroom was a bit dirty and the outdoor pool had some algea growing in the cracks. But everything else splendid. Lots of fun activities and beautiful sites to see. We were only supposed to stay for 1 night but loved it so much we stayed for 2. Room 257.

Highly recommend this place.

We had a wonderful stay in July, excellent facilities and food. The staff were impeccable also. Our personal highlight was a river boat tour offered by a gentleman called Sisara who you can arrange tours with via the front desk, 100% recommend.

It was a really nice experience. We enjoyed it a lot and the location, food, and hotel staff were top-level. There are lots of activities especially for children like child play areas, water areas, kid pool, PS gaming, etc. Especially have a separate buffet for children. The hotel is spread out in a huge area, can walk around the hotel freely and the surrounding beach near the sea.

I had an outstanding stay at Shangri-La Hambantota during our family trip. The abundance of fun activities made it an ideal choice for us, especially with a 2-year-old. The well-maintained, clean rooms and amazing food exceeded our expectations. The pool area and activities offered were a highlight, and the staff, particularly the trainee Chathurya, was incredibly professional and helpful. Her assistance in handling our 2-year-old and ensuring we had everything we needed, including a delightful meal, truly enhanced our experience.
We're definitely looking forward to returning.

Nothing but good things about the amazing hotel!! Friendly staff, beautiful property and the best gym ever in a Sri Lankan resort. However I hope the drinks (cocktails to be more specific) could be slightly improved. Will definitely come again after I master golf ⛳ 😎.

We had a great stay at Shangri-La Hambantota on a 3 Day Family Trip. The service and room quality was excellent, we were at the Ocean Suite, and it is ideal for a family with kids. The hotel is highly recommendable for family as the kids have ample activities to keep them busy whilst the parents can have their own leisure. The pool and pool activities was great, the Kids Club staff was very friendly although the Kids Club can be larger in size with more activities. The food quality was good and the breakfast quality was exceptional. Despite being a weekday they had Buffet for all 3 meals. They also have a separate Buffet for the kids, which is very nice of them. I was surprised to see separate seating for families with kids with different sized tables and chairs suited for kids and toddlers, which is very remarkable. A very family friendly hotel. On the downside it is not the ideal location as the Sea is very rough and no activities can be done on the Beach. Also as Hambantota is very Dry Zone, it was very warm and you will be prone to Sun Burn without protection. Nevertheless, the resort itself has ample things to do and it is a massive place.

Fantastic hotel, excellent for families. Beautiful scenery and grounds. Rooms are spacious as are the beds. Pools and water park an absolute must for young kids.
