Makulu Safari Camp.

We had 2 nights here and had a brilliant time! Prashan and his team couldn’t do enough for us, so friendly and helpful. The food was all amazing, fresh home cooked traditional Sri Lankan food with local ingredients- can’t stop thinking about the milk rice and curry I had for breakfast! Great, quiet place to stay right in the middle of nature- I was slightly on edge due to seeing a couple of big spiders but didn’t see any in the tent and Prashan kindly provided my boyfriend with a spider-catching coconut if we needed it!! We also went on a little canoe ride down the river which was so peaceful and lovely. Sadly we didn’t do the night walk through the sugar cane, as it was very wet and rainy but this is also available in the price if the weather is better. 100% recommend!

5 star recommendation! We stayed for one night at the camp and it was just an incredible experience - something that you will remember for a life time.
Very friendly hosts, who do everything to give you an amazing time. We had dinner at the bonfire, in a magical surrounding right in the jungle. The food was super tasty and the two hosts just lovely!
One thing to pay attention to: Make sure to book vegetarian dishes beforehand, so they can prepare it for you 😌 the next day we had a perfectly organized safari, allowing us to discover the local wildlife, as elephants, crocodiles and monkeys.

We had an amazing experience in Makulu Safari Camp. It was really very special: boat ride on the sunset, very tasty dinner with a bonfire, amazing safari on the next day. Situated away from the main road this place offers you so much calmness and nature for a perfect relax. 6 hours safari on the next day was just perfect: our guide was very attentive and experienced and showed us a lot of animals (of course a lot of elephants too) and nice places of the national park. We also got a breakfast to go and made a small breakfast-break in the park. It was a great fun.
Thank you guys for this wonderful stay 🙏🏻 it was definitely one of the highlights of our Sri Lanka trip.

It was an amazing experience! Being so close to nature is just crazy. The tent and bathroom were clean, but a little used (still ok). The employees were just so gorgeous! They took us on boat trip when we arrived, arranged a beautiful dinner in the dark and went for a night walk. I can clearly recommend to anyone, who isn’t afraid of mosquitoes ;-)

Makalu Safari Camping from start to finish was amazing. We were treated so well by the team, Dhanush and Samitha. Gorgeous afternoon teas and the feasts were incredible. 7 delicious dishes for supper and breakfast Our safari guide Sameera was just amazing at spotting the birds and we even saw a crocodile. Elephants up close were extraordinary. Would highly recommend!!

Great place to stay! You are helped by two lovely guys who do everything to make your stay as chill as possible. But remember you are in the wild! So animals are everywhere. We loved it!
Then at night you can have a super romantic dinner which is so tastefull. Everything is great about this place. Our two nights flew by.

We had a fantastic time at Makulus Safari Camping. The boys took us on a beautiful boat ride down the river where we saw baby crocodiles and soooo many different birds. They organised a lovely massive traditional breakfast and dinner and were very professional. Udawalawe was an amazing experience because of the work of these 2 people. Thanks again!

Stayed for 3 nights and had the best time! The tent was absolutely perfect, and sitting outside enjoying tea made our evenings.

The food was delicious and the serving outside with the light made for the most romantic dinners.
The manager Chilli is one of the best people we have met, helped us with the Safari and everything we could possibly have needed.

This was a life time experience! It cannot be seen from the pictures… hospitality was so unique, authentic, close to nature, very eco friendly and enriching. We really enjoyed the full moon tour and river safari. Thanks so much!!!

We stayed 13-14th of September and it was incredible. Amazing food and epic location. We did the safari and we saw a lot of elephants. The workers of the camping were the best of the experience, congrats for them, they are such a good workers.

Makulu beat our expectations. The campsite was wonderfully located and we were looked after with care and generosity by Chilli and the team.

The site is alongside a river, with a few tents well spaced apart and set back from the water. We ate in a dining tent in front of our tent or further away, in a clearing which at night was lit by torches. Amazing.

The food was very good and there was lots of it. Wonderful Sri Lankan curries, bread and rice and fruit and local Buffalo curd.

The tents were clean and all we needed. The shower was cold but nice in the heat and the mosquito nets kept us from getting bitten.

We had a 6 hour safari trip - I wouldn’t have wanted less and it didn’t feel long. Just right. Chilli was very knowledgeable about the animals and birds both in Udawalawe park and around the campsite.

Epic camping experience. Definitely one to remember! The hosts were amazing and absolutely looked the dining with all the fire sticks at dinner. So much nature!

Nous avons passé une nuit mémorable au Makulu Camp à la recherche d'une expérience safari authentique, et nous n'avons pas été déçus. Niché au cœur de la forêt, loin de l'agitation urbaine, cet endroit nous a offert exactement ce que nous recherchions. Le chant des oiseaux, et même quelques singes nous ont accueillis dans ce havre de paix.

Il est important de noter que le Makulu Camp n'est pas un hôtel cinq étoiles dans un ressort, mais plutôt un camp en pleine nature ce qui peut ne pas convenir à tout le monde, mais pour les aventuriers dans l'âme, c'est une expérience inoubliable. Nous avons été choyés avec de délicieux plats sri lankais copieux, un feu de bois.. un petit déjeuner a emporter au safari.. même le wifi !

Le safari lui-même était incroyable, et notre guide était tout simplement exceptionnel. Nous remercions Prashan qui s'est occupé de nous ainsi que le cuisinier Jantih. Nous ont vraiment gâté!!

Très bon établissement. Nous avons été très satisfaits de l’excellent accueil, du service attentionné et du très beau safari proposé.
