Institutionalized agricultural education for middle level agriculturists was started in 1916 at the School of Tropical Agriculture, Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya. The school provided practical agricultural training for future agricultural instructors, headmen, teachers and students interested in agriculture. In 1941 it was relocated in Gannoruwa, in new buildings now occupied by the In-service Training Institute. The Girl’s Farm School was inaugurated in 1948 at Kundasale, and male students were recruited to the school in 1958. Then the School was named as School of Agriculture, Kundasale. The medium of instruction was Sinhala and Tamil. In 1966 the school in Peradeniya was amalgamated with the school at Kundasale.

About Digana
Village in Sri Lanka

Digana is a village in Sri Lanka. It is located within Central Province, between Kandy and Teldeniya on A26 road. It is known for its dolomite mineral. Philanthropist Alhaji Azeez Muhammedh Rauf introduced dolomite to Sri Lanka. There are several dolomite industries in Digana. After submerging Teldeniya, Digana became the popular alternative town to all neighbourhoods. The population is around 2000 families living in a multi-ethnic community. source
